Highland FC out of Asheville. Solid club, they will compete favorably in most age groups. Total pain in the ass from a travel perspective.

Highland looks like ass…just sayin

They displaced NCFC on top of RL across a number of ages. The 2010s are weak and their RL team is barely mid table though.

Maybe on the girls side, I have no idea, but at least 4 of the boys age groups will do fine at ECNL level. I have seen the 08s and 09s play for years (and apparently a couple of the younger age group teams are also very good) and honestly thought they should've gone straight to NL out of the gate. Their performance in RL proves it too.

There’s got to be a reason.

Because trolls are having fun with over-invested parents.

Or because the mid atlantic ecnl is weak? Easy pickings

Step #1 accomplished ECNL hat admits that ECNL is weak.

Now the standard follow up will be to highlight clubs or teams success that their kid doesn't play on. Followed by the inevitable listing of D1recruits who BTW have been in the pipeline since the DA days.

ECNL on the boys side. This one is stratigic + allowing them to switch to MLSN 1or2 in the future.

GA clearly values signing ideal locations for growth more than shiny legacy clubs. They are looking specifically near cities with an MLS and/or NWSL clubs. There are a few outliers but the major their signings are following this pattern.

Also Norcal league has been aligning with ECNL more than what the MLSN and GA clubs probably like. This takes away from that action + sets up for a Norcal league alternative if they continue aligning with ECNL instead of being agnostic.

Highland FC only got promoted on the boys side to ECNL. Girls not as strong - mid-table in most age groups in ECRL, rarely make playoff spots.
