That clearly wasn’t even a defection; it was a demotion.

You (or someone else) posted this previously.

-Those numbers are not close to accurate for ECNL or GA.

The registered numbers on the showcase website have never been accurate. Only the showcase organizers know who actually showed up. Real numbers that you cant get by looking at a website...for either league.

Comment section says it all.

No one saying “WOHOOO we are going to ECRL”

Kansas Rush moving from GA to RL. Boys in ECNL and no one in KC getting into MLSN unless they have Sporting in the name. Coincidentally Sporting City has been demoted to Aspire. Leaves Union and Legends as only GA clubs…. Can see Legends becoming a regional power if this allows them to retain players.

Interesting. They have also posted tryouts and some coaching slates for next season with GA/Aspire logo. Seems strange if they were planning a switch. Was this chosen by them or for them?

And that’s kind of big because we didn’t see them at Champions Cup. We just got the list of coaches that came to Generation Adidas cup too. The coaches know what they are doing and who they are looking for and when. GA knows what it’s doing too - and only 5 years in - it’s just the start. ECNL is clearly worried. But the competition seems to be bolstering both sides so … game on.

Is mid Atlantic ECNL staying with the same teams? Still don't understand why ECNL VA can't play with ECNL MD teams.

More to come, based upon the promotions in NJ, MI, OR I’m highly predicting NJ team (SJEB or STA - strongly feel it’s STA) and a Midwest/mid America team (Indy Premier or Columbus United - Indy Premier would be a big loss). Outlier could be someone from PacNW Spokane Shadow? I wouldn’t say dominant is the word for any of these teams but Indy Premier as initially reported, but all had a team at Champions Cup.

It seems clear they want to target teams for ECNL only and I think step 2 will be press on current members with MLS Next.

I think ECNL will lose that battle.

East Coast clubs can't compete top to bottom with Midwest.

What? I could possibly give you top, but top to bottom no way. There are some BAD MW teams.

I agree that any changes outside the area that your kids play in have little impact on their experience, but to imply that only the two coasts are important, ignoring some of the biggest hotbeds for soccer (TX, CO, MI, STL,CHI) is a wild take.
