We don’t understand why the whole Option H kicks us out of our established pyramid. QO is losing 2 high FARMS schools. Does someone in central office has kids at QO?

These are the actual procedural issues that MCPS has screwed up. We have heard so much from the Wootton whiners that the actual equity issues got drowned out. Am going to be so annoyed when this gets completely ignored while Wootton is screaming about inequities in court because they are a part of the tiny townhome community that should be a protected class.

Especially because MCPS could totally fix this while still opening a more balanced Wootton @ Crown.

Louder so everyone can hear over the Wootton whiners

They are similarly ranked, but the op-ed makes the valid point (that research backs) that poverty concentration negatively impacts schools because they get strapped for resources/struggle to meet kids needs (and no Wootton, they don’t mean moving from 14-19% FARMs - Shhhh).

Basically Brown Station and Northwest High School are getting screwed by option H. https://moderatelymoco.com/brown-station-community-raises-segregation-concerns-over-mcps-boundary-proposal/ Increased FARMs, getting cut off from special programs, bussing longer distances. MCPS is segregating black and brown kids to Germantown.

So let me guess. Now all of the Save Wootton folks are going to rise up and try to partner with Brown Station ES peeps to take up their cause? Because they really care about black and brown kids? Y’all have lost me with your creative coalition building. What exactly is it that you believe in?

Not a guess, a GUARANTEE. Whatever it takes to stay on the Parkway!

I am in favor of moving to the Crown building but I will support staying on the parkway if Brown Station can also come to the parkway location. Do we have a deal?

Wootton cluster parent here, I welcome Brown Station to join us at the Crown location! It would really help balance a lot of factors. Maybe after half of fallsmead gets rezoned to wayside and Fallsgrove gets rezoned to Lakewood. I could see the SW brown station zone and the diamond islands getting rezoned to Wootton at crown for a nice contiguous map. 🤗 🗺️

No. This is too much change. We can’t deal with more lawsuits.

How about fallsmead to Ritchie park?

Maybe ES/MS boundary rezone will correct many problems that people list here.

We have HS boundary rezone for some school boundaries, next MS math curriculum minutes, 6 regional boundary zone, then ES & MS boundary rezone. So many changes and I am lost

They are probably doing that because otherwise that proposed region QO is in would have a much higher overall FARMS rate compared to surrounding proposed regions. It makes sense to me.

Another theory is that Ridgeview MS is going to have a utilization of 43% and Lakelands Park MS will have a utilization of 57% after this round of boundary study. Given the geography, the next round of boundary study may include folding Ridgeview into LPMS. There's enough space in LPMS to hold both schools projected enrollment.

I suspect that was a fake post from a Wootton parent not wanting Brown Station at their school. Not a large number of Brown Station parents on dcum lets be honest. Do better.

Disappointed, I thought for sure we’d get to 200 pages before the big vote!

The same way Darnestown got segregated to Northwest despite being so close to QO? And now Poolesville? Spare me.
