2024 Democratic National Convention

JD Vance is just terrible. Jake Tapper just asked him to respond to Buttigieg's response to his childless people do not have a commitment to the future of this country. (Buttigieg said tonight that when he served in Afghanistan, he didn't have kids and neither did most of his fellow troops, but you better believe their commitment to their country was pretty d--- physical).

Vance botched the supply. He couldn't defend himself other than saying his remark was sarcastic and Buttigieg should be more offended by the job he has done as Transportation Secretary. Like what? Why can't Vance just be a human? Why does he have to keep that smug expression on while he refuses to apologize. Just say "I'm sorry. That comment was tongue in cheek and I hate that I offended so many people."

But he opens his mouth, puts on a smarmy expression and just makes everything worse.

Why didn't Trump build the wall 4 years ago?
Why didn't Trump remove taxes on Tip 4 years ago?
Why didn't Trump do any of his promise 4 years ago?

ALL politicians lie, deflect, exaggerate, and minimize, depending on the subject at hand. They also have huge egos.

I feel sorry for Walz son.

I personally did not know that he has medical issues. Social media is going to be rough for him.

Add it up, and we’re probably at or nearing the high water mark for Harris.

At the convention, you’ve heard a lot about how smart, tough, accomplished and determined Harris is.

And yet, she’s still the woman who flamed out in the 2020 Democratic primary, and who had an approval rating in the upper thirties for most of her time as vice president. That number has rebounded… to 41 percent.

Her lone policy proposal has been labeled “full of gimmicks” by the Washington Post editorial board; Post economics columnist Catherine Rampell concluded, “it’s hard to exaggerate how bad this policy is,” and Obama economic advisor Jason Furman concluded, “this is not sensible policy, and I think the biggest hope is that it ends up being a lot of rhetoric and no reality. There’s no upside here, and there is some downside.” Harris’ instincts have not changed.

I have neurodivergence in my family and saw a lot of positive social media about Gus and his wonderful, emotional reaction to his dad's big moment. I also appreciate that while Gus is neurodivergent plus has anxiety and a non-verbal learning disorder and ADHD, he's not hidden. he's openly enjoying himself and being unapologetically himself and loved and celebrated by his family.

I think a lot of families (like mine) can see their family members represented in Gus.

Clinton spoke at the 1988 Dem convention and speech went on over an hour and when he said. "In conclusion," the entire audience cheered.

I noticed a few articles popping up already. Visibility is so important!

And when has Trump ever given specifics on policies when he's campaigning? He lives for sound bites and no substance. He was in office for four years and all we ever heard was "Two more weeks." The entire last 8 years of Donald Trump has been campaign promises given and broken. He never gives details. Heck, at this point, he can't remember the details that his staff tell him just before he walks out to the crowds.

Buttigieg was absolute fire tonight.

His response to JD Vance saying childless people "have no physical commitment to the future of tis country" was brilliant. Buttigieg replied:

"Well Senator, when I deployed to Afghanistan I didn't have kids then. Many of the people I served who went outside the wire didn't have kids either. But let me tell you, our commitment to the future of this country was pretty d--- physical."

Wow. Great takedown.

I'm really happy Walz is the VP Candidate but I would have loved to see Buttigieg debate Vance.

Has climate change or the environment been mentioned at all in this convention? Seems like the Democrats have pretty much banned any mention of these topics which is especially striking given the importance Biden placed on Green jobs during the infrastructure rollout just two years ago. Dunno if this is just smart politics or if it’s a major change in policy.

He hopefully isn’t on social media.

Their family is delightful and Gus’ happy tears were a highlight of evening! I think every American will recognize a bit of themselves in the Walz family.

He is a dolt. There is no there there. A ghostwritten book and being backdoored into Yale doesn’t make you smart. He’s a midwit political prostitute.

He seems to have no charisma and little if any emotional intelligence. I find Vance even less relatable then Trump — even though we probably have only 2 or 3 degrees of separation. He carried himself as though he thinks he’s the smartest person in the room — when it’s apparent to most that he’s not. He’s arrogant, mean spirited and offensive. I know several people who are considering getting cats thanks to his comments, so there’s that.
