If your truly want to know what playing club and HS soccer simutanouly is really like.

An important read in order to know because HS keeps coming up in these debates.

Best part about it, it was written prior to DA

Old news. We already talked about that on this forum. Try to keep up.

It's hard to keep up with the flood of teams leaving the DA for the ECNL.

It's only been 4 teams. But I guess then last year, you must have been beside yourself with anguish at the 50+ teams that left the ECNL.

You have some odd math on both counts.

VDA, Hawks, Loudon, PDA, FC Stars, Seattle United, Indy Fire...Oh and more dual clubs still set to announce they are done with the DA. Stay tuned folks....

Good thing Loudoun gave up DA.

Loudoun gave up DA....lmfoa

You mean DA gave up on Loudoun during the application proces and told them to kick rocks because their big brother next door was getting DA?

Is that what you meant? Surly, that's what you meant.

When did Loudoun have DA?

Indiana Fire, 3rd,6th,6th in a fairly average DA division, I suspect is not a loss to the DA. Their style of play watching them in the past in the ECNL was always kick and run, SO they are back where they belong without anyone to control their ranting coaches who don't stress development over results and now they can kick- run- scream -and showcase their players to their hearts content

4 clubs leaving the DA is Hardly a flood, definitely not getting the noah's arc ready. Those 3 founding members make money off the transaction to come back and now get 2 teams in ECNL in every age group. I wonder how the other top ECNL clubs will feel about that when they house 28 players on their 2001 and 2002 aged rosters and their parents ask why they can't have 2 teams. I wonder how the addition of 2 new average to poor "VDA level clubs" being added is going to help the ECNL strength, seems a common trend, get more more more. (yesterday's release) Unintended consequences of becoming the new CCL and beyond will be interesting in a year or 2 - tiering will be inevitable as the MA is so watered down in the ECNL at moment

Someone said earlier these were the best clubs in DA...Hmmm...lets look at their U14 divisional records in DA:

VDA 5-9-4 (5th out of 8)
Hawks 8-3-4
Loudoun not in DA
PDA 11-5-2 (3rd out of 8)
FC Stars 6-8-4
Reign/United 11-2-2
Indy Fire 3-5-3

3 teams have a winning record, and 3 have a losing record. So not the best clubs in DA. For the most part, not even the best clubs in their division. Maybe only Reign is top in their division and its not clear where those girls will wind up as Seattle United withdrew from partnership already and their coaches were replaced but team is still playing. Facts are disruptive to opinion.

For the girls who just wants to play soccer at the top level, they have DA.

For those girls that love soccer but also play another sport or want to play HS soccer, ECNL offers the chance to play at a top level and still pursue other sports

If you don't live near a DA or ECNL, there are many strong independent clubs that play a schedule that is plays EDP DI or the CCL supplemented by ERL, State Cup and Showcases.

Parents, don't let these "league chasers" who have fallen victim to the marketing efforts of the various soccer organizations, pressure you into joining the new "hot" league. You don't have to be a lemming.

Yes the #MONEYGRAB is so big and widespread now in girls soccer compared to 20 years ago, you shouldn't complain because everyone has an option to be "elite" . . . not like 20 years ago where it was much, much harder without all this infrastructure.

Ok. I'll give it the ol' college try again

LMFAO...Loudoun doesn't have GDA. ..hows was that...a wee bit better?

You cannot leave something you never had. It's like saying I broke up with Beyonce. I mean, she would have to be my girlfriend first...right?

Things change? The overall benefit is players now are far more technically sound now and at younger ages than 20 years ago. Outside of the competing organizations we are still trying to scrub clean the long ball athletic style coaching dinosaur coaches who can’t let go of 20 years ago.

The USWNT is better now then it was 20 years ago? Losing your translation.

It's a #MONEYGRAB dummy. There are only so many players that are truly Elite and now they are spread out all over the region. But please live that dream and have fun, if you got the money, then why not?! Gotta spend it somehow.

Elite soccer is basically a rich girl's sport, and not an elite sport because the girls in it are elite. Some are, many not.

What makes me sad is the parents who are sacrificing a lot and don't have the assets to burn but do so because they are drinking all this Kool-Aid. Posts like yours don't help. You sound like a lot of parents at the clubs. There are parents even willing to spend the money to get on one of these Elite teams knowing their daughter is not even in the starting 11, when they could pay a lot less money and find a developmentally appropriate "lower team" where their Superstar would play the whole game.

I sense sarcasm. Back in the day when the coach of the one elite team in your state had perfect knowledge of who the best 18 players were in his state and all of those kids developed evenly on time nd their parents committed them to the team for 6 years, things were so much better and so more elite. Never had to worry about that 19th best player. He or she was not elite and never would be. How's that for sarcasm?

A wider net is better. Kids develop at different rates and have different interests over time.

Well hello there high and mighty. Name your kids club or cheap alternative instead of lecturing

Agree. This is the Kool-Aid and as long as you can afford to find out, great for the USSF. Parents pay, infrastructure grows, and maybe the USWNT makes a marginal improvement.

Not much difference in # of Div 1 spots and they were filled back then in the good ol days.

Again, Elite soccer is a rich girl's sport. I and all of my friends are fortunate that we can afford it if we want. Not all can where we live, and the net does not get them.
