so..now weather is going to be rainy with a high of 70.

Do you have a special first day outfit planned?

I plan to put him in some type of polo/collared shirt and was going to be khaki shorts...but now with the weather change possibly pants.

I guess I came from a family that made a big deal about looking nice on the first day of school. I do plan to take a ton of photos, etc. It is the first day of his school career--so I think it's a pretty big deal.

He definitely won't be in some ratty tee with uncombed hair and un-brushed teeth.

We are doing a polo shirt and khaki shorts. I have plenty of pictures of him running around in a Star Wars tshirt. I want this day to be special and to have those adorable first day of kindergarten pictures. Big brother is just wearing a new tshirt of his chosing, but kindergarten is special.

my kids wear whatever they pick out. There is so much nervous energy in the air that first day I want them to be happy and comfortable.

ugh, nothing as tacky as polo shirts and khaki shorts. Double yuck. At least they aren't "monogrammed"

Good lord-- my son would be in sweat/track shorts and a ratty tee (most likely some mix of stripes and plaid). I let him pick among 2-3 shirts and pants---but I lay them out. Shorts and shirts are all comfortable. I am not making him wear a tuxedo.

We take education seriously and are pretty traditional about school clOthes-- different attire than camp or soccer. He can still wear tee shirts, but they are nicer ones-- same with shorts.

Collared/polo style shirt and cotton/canvas shorts (khaki or some other color) are the staple of most male wardrobes. You really can't be too creative if you are a hetero male.

Is your K-child wearing a rocker vest and skinny jeans? It will look great in photos 20 years from now

Well, I really thought long and hard as to what would be the least offensive to your fashion sensibilities. Given our extensive collection of tacky, licensed character emblazed t-shirts with bourgeois mottos, I felt the middle class "dress uniform" of Target polos and khaki shorts would be a much more socially acceptable option for my 5 year old, resulting in giving him the greatest opportunity to start his educational career at an advanced level to his chronological peers.

Seriously, it’s kindergarten. Quit being such a snob.

My DS wears the socially acceptable and smart looking toga. Always appropriate and comfortable except during the cold winter months.

I forgot to add the Burberry trench, since it might rain.
