Could the Grocery Gestapo give it a rest already?

We've had Corn Buying 101, we've had the return-or-not-to-return debacle. Now we have Fruit Sampling Wars, and someone is up in arms because a fat lady in a scooter was feeding her toddler from the Hot Bar.

Christ, can't we give it a rest? Is there no aspect of grocery shopping that is safe from the prying eyes of Negative Nancies? I'm sorry my toddlers sticky hands got on your Subaru. I swear it won't happen again. And I won't reach behind to take the late expiration date milk again. But please, grocery shopping used to be fun. I used to look forward to it. For the love of god!

Sorry, but I will continue to do this-

And I won't reach behind to take the late expiration date milk again

Really?? I must be doing it wrong.

Hee-hee. I always get the late expiration milk. And always will. And I sample. And do god-only-knows what other unmentionable things while shopping. Move right along, folks. Nothing to see here.

OP, Gestapo isn't a fun jokey word to a significant chunk of DCUM's readership. Neither is "Nazi" or "SS" and similar.

Not that someone like you will care a whit. But on the off chance you possess any sensitivity.

PP, you are ridiculous! Political correctness has gone way beyond extreme. FYI, I love "feminazi breastfeeding moms." It describes them so well. I also like "Grocery Gestapo" and will now use this term. Thanks, OP, and for what's it worth, I agree with you.

No one has forced you to read or follow the posts, right, PP? Just chime in when you wish, with constructive input, and ignore the rest.

Have to agree. It's offensive.

Let me guess, 16:41, you're not Jewish, amiright?

Rush Limbaugh likes to overuse the word Nazi.

It shouldn't be offensive to the Jews, it ought to be offensive to the Germans who might be sick of hearing it by now.

It's usually offensive to both groups-- to Jews because taking it out of serious context trivializes our suffering and to Germans who probably are "sick of hearing it", though in itself that's not a good reason to stop saying it. More to the point, it's not really polite to bring it up when the context doesn't call for it.

Agree, it's offensive; OP probably was pleased with the alliteration but obviously didn't consider meaning.

One more reason that I love Peapod! ( or Safeway home delivery)

FWIW, OP, I didn't find Gestapo offensive at all, as a matter of fact, I laughed.
