Trump announced a 50% tariff on copper. He has no idea how much this screws the US economy

I suppose any day now the Supreme Court will say it's fine for the executive to impose tariffs any time he wants for any reason. Just ignore Congress and the Constitution entirely.

So trump is raising prices on Americans to help out some foreign criminal?

Said foreign criminal is guilty of the same crimes Trump committed on Jan 6 an the weeks leading up to it. Brazil shows how a properly functioning democracy and judiciary is supposed to behave.

Trump has no idea about any of the effects he causes with his undisciplined blathering. He’s destroying everything and is oblivious.

Trump cares about foreigner criminals than he does about Americans

Lula isn’t f*ing around. Strong, intelligent women won’t acquiesce to weak, unintelligent men.

“Brazil is a sovereign nation with independent institutions and will not accept any form of tutelage.

The judicial proceedings against those responsible for planning the coup d'état fall exclusively under the jurisdiction of Brazil´s Judicial Branch and, as such, are not subject to any interference or threats that could compromise the independence of national institutions.

In the context of digital platforms, Brazilian society rejects hateful content, racism, child pornography, scams, fraud, and speeches against human rights and democratic freedom.

In Brazil, freedom of expression must not be confused with aggression or violent practices. All companies—whether domestic or foreign—must comply with Brazilian law in order to operate within our territory.

The claim regarding a U.S. trade deficit in its commercial relationship with Brazil is inaccurate. Statistics from the U.S. government itself show a surplus of $410 billion in the trade of goods and services with Brazil over the past 15 years.

Therefore, any unilateral tariff increases will be addressed in accordance with Brazil's Economic Reciprocity Law.

Sovereignty, respect and the unwavering defense of the interests of the Brazilian people are the values that guide our relationship with the world.”

Cities use copper pipes to prevent lead poisoning and also poisoning from all the plastic pipes, including the glue used.

DC has been trying to do this.

I truly don’t know what this madman is doing.

The US can only produce 47% of the copper it needs.

One mine literally works 24/7, 365 and can still only produce 20% of the copper needed in the US.

We only have 2 plants in the US that is capable of mining, smelting, and refining its own copper. And it takes 29 years for a new mine to get permitted.

It's literally not possible to make American copper great again.

I was just reading a Brazilian report that said Itamaraty's response (Brazilian Department of State) was to ask the US Embassy if the letter was authentic.

Could some MAGA supporter please explain how imposing a tariff on a country with respect to which we have a trade surplus falls within the scope of the declared "National Economic Emergency" that sprang from unsupportable trade deficits?

Please also explain how Brazil's 100% internal legal processes fall within the scope of that same "National Economic Emergency"?

How does taxing the American public serve the national interest where Brazilian imports are concerned?
