What is an average class size at your school in MD
private or public. |
My kids are in private school, and average homeroom sizes have ranged from 15 to 18/19. Reading and math are taught in smaller groups. |
approx 21 to 24 in k-1 right now in public. Could change on first day of school (unlike private, public does not know enrollment definitively until the child walks through the door on the first day). |
21 in my second grader's class in MCPS. 19 last year. |
17 in DS's 6th grade private. Has been as high as 24, as low as 14. (that was nice). |
5 classes of 24-25 in 1st grade public school |
private K-8
anywhere from 25 to 34 As a public school teacher, I'd take these classes over mine any old day! discipline issues? ha! |
2nd grade private: 17
1st grade public last year: 23 |
Would people please note the number of teachers too? A class of 22 with two teachers is very different from a class of 22 with only one teacher.
My own are in a private with classes of 22-24, with two teachers per class. So 12:1 ratio. |
Last year: parochial - 28 w/ teacher and aide
Haven't started yet this year but we expect the same |
13-17 average, two teachers, private elementary. |
11 with one teacher |
Mcps -28, one teacher |
9th grader Mo Co last year - 37 kids in frshman honors chemistry. Did 2 experiments. Teacher said there were too many kids in class to do experiments safely. WTF!
6th grader in private - 15 kids or less in all classes. Very happy with this ratio. |
MCPS with 19 in K; one teacher. |
