lol. I am 99.9% certain we are going to get a lot of rain this weekend.

I grew up in Houston, and remember going to the stores pre-hurricane and my mom telling us to grab whatever was left on the shelves and throw it into the carts. It was complete chaos. We always seemed to get there after 90% of the store was already gone. However, we never went hungry or had dirty bums from lack of tp. lol

It has to hit us, and hit us bad. We're going to the beach this weekend for our first vacation in 2 years. And that's just how my life works. 8)

Hey, at least it is summer. Grab a hosta a leaf if you run out of tp.

I know, we are supposed to go to the beach this weekend too, I think the beach is going to be canceled.

we were supposed to go to a DE this weekend! should i have a backup weekend plan?

It's going to hit us. Not direct hit, but we'll get dumped on. My sister in law is getting married this weekend and the hurricane shares the same name as her grandmother who just passed away in July. Were she in her right mind to express it over the last year, she would not have approved of this wedding.

I just read that Irene may hug the coast instead of going inland. Still too early to tell. If I had to bet I would say no, that seems to be how these things usually go.

It looks like it may have a path like Gloria in 1985, only slower.

yes

But if your luck is anything like mine, you'll probably make plans for a ski trip when another Snowmaggedon hits.

Who remembers hurricane Agnes in '72?

My parents had a party. My uncle got shit faced, fought with my father and my other uncle, and then we were all trapped in the house until the storm blew over.

pure misery

hope it isn't like isabel

I'm not expecting a direct hit. Just wind and rain.

By comparison this one is still (tentatively) looking like a glancing blow, with only one model slightly similar to Isabel.

We're going to get wet, and some may be without power if we get an Isabel like track, but if it stays offshore I think most people will just get some rain.

Thank you for the detailed response! My mother in law lives in Riva, her townhouse is on a creek off the South River. I'm trying to convince her to come spend the weekend with us just in case there is flooding or bad weather. At least she's safe then.

This totally sucks. I'm in OBX on my only week of vacation. Thanks, Irene!
