I'm not sure what that cover has to do with Meghan but some of you have no idea how desperate the British are to spin a narrative that the Sussexs don't exist in the U.S. People magazine's Editor-in-Chief is British and I'm sure he'll be in line for a OBE or whatever as soon as he's done gurgling William's balls. |
Yes, it makes the BRF sound really pathetic. Kate looked awesome. They don't need to scrabble in the mud, they could just focus on Kate. It is sad. Agree that the desperation undercuts his own message significantly. |
It sounds like the Cambridge version of Omid Scobie.

It achieved what it was meant to, a rallying support by the public around the duchess

This trash reads like something written by an incel — trying to pit two women against each other for his own twisted enjoyment. I hope that Meghan and Kate are each living their best lives — and ignoring such claptrap. It’s not possible, I know, but it’s horrible to think of their kids reading vicious nonsense like this. (Wondering now about parental controls on internet access…. And if boarding schools at extremely young ages will make this any easier.) |
True! But possibly not the Duchess that they intended to rally support for. |
It could have been so much more effective. The premise of the article was that Kate's bigger, more glamorous role is going save the monarchy, which has a problem with younger and more diverse Britons. But, the article pitted Kate and Meghan against each other and trashed Meghan, effectively turning off anyone who likes Meghan (the younger, more diverse Britons the BRF is trying to woo). I guess the misstep is not surprising, since monarchists don't appreciate democracy, but they're effectively making people choose between Kate and Meghan, and elections are a matter of addition and subtraction. Whatever success they have with this strategy is being diminished by subtracting Meghan's admirers from the equation altogether. It's just so stupid. |
This is just Daily Mail clickbait. Kate Middleton has been a fashion icon since she burst into the scene. Her engagement dress sold out within hours, as have all the more affordable outfits she has worn. Websites have crashed with young women rushing to buy her looks. She basically has resorted to buying clothes and wearing them a year later to avoid being seen as merching. The designer looks she wears are copied by high street brands. Copies of her wedding dress (the reception look) were everywhere, including on Meghan during her first wedding. She was one of the first high profile women to wear inexpensive clothing and jewelry to official appearances. She was ahead of the curve and championed the slow fashion movement by repeat wearing and recycling a lot of her clothes. She has never been bold or daring, I am going to guess this was by design, but she has always looked effortlessly elegant. |
Are you sure about that? |
I agree pp, utterly unnecessary and pandering to the trash. |
She doesn’t need anyone “rallying” around her. They have been in her corner all along! |
Which one? That article made Kate look slimy and frumpy. She couldn’t figure out how to dress herself until her sister in law showed up? Really?! That’s what her supposed supporters are saying. Then she copied her sister in law’s style? (Or tried to) Then she’s gleefully delighted that she might look more put together than her SIL 3 months postpartum on a work trip??? This article makes Kate look like she’s really struggling and can’t copy Meghan fast enough. I would be embarrassed if I was in her shoes. |
When Kate starts wearing oversized coats to hide her lumps and rolls, and ill fitting clothes lacking tailoring then she will be copying Meghan, until then, not so much. You're reading what you want to read given your bias. And you could never afford Kate's shoes, so nobody cares if you would be "embarrassed" in your stupid fantasy. |
| Idk. I am not PP and I like Kate (and I think she looked gorgeous), but that article was a serious misstep in a country where support for the monarchy decreases every year and the population is deeply worried about Brexit. |
Kate sequestered herself for months and months after her pregnancies, so, no lumps or bumps. That’s one way to avoid the criticisms of the superficial masses. Having the support of the press is another. |
