Diana was a dumb fluff who had to marry a rich man. Charles married her out of a sense of obligation after his family pulled Camilla away from him. If they had allowed him to marry Camilla, Diana would now be divorced from her wealthy second husband and interfering in her grandchildren’s lives

DP. Camilla as Charles great true love is a rebrand. Camilla is the last woman standing. He didn’t ask her to wait for him because she was in reality one of a few girlfriends. Including his BFF’s wife Kanga. Camilla AND Diana both also seemed to think he was having an affair with the boys’ nanny Tiggy. His family didn’t tear them apart he didn’t fight for her because she was one of many. But I do agree that he preferred her to Diana.

I don’t know why Charles and Camilla get so much grief. Anne was having an affair with Camilla’s husband at the same time all this was originally going down in the 70s. Then she was forced to marry the second man she had affair with in 92. Camilla’s husband is still ‘chummy’ with Anne to this day. None of them are clean.

I think Kate is seen as a breath of fresh air because out of the senior royals she’s the only one NOT having affairs. She hangs out with her mother and that’s it.

It’s only Americans who seem scandalized. This kind of behavior is very common in moneyed and aristocratic circles in Europe. Everyone knows the rules and almost everyone turns a blind eye as long as they get to maintain their money, status and power. That’s why the royals were caught unawares when Diana decided to upset the applecart.

I’m not scandalized. I’m confused when everyone from Phillip to Anne to Charles were having open affairs and peccadillos, but when a divorcee is marrying into the family the shock that rolled through the ranks was better reserved for the first publicly gay monarch.

Sure. People were so so so upset by her divorce. All anyone ever talks about is her divorce. It’s in every bit of coverage, and it’s why the evil Cambridges and Windsors never did any appearances with her in public, didn’t walk her down the aisle or attend her wedding because they were totes obsessed with her divorce. In fact, the stench of it means Charles and Camilla aren’t really married, they did a thing three days before the nuptials where they agreed that was just for sure because, divorce. They laid out the red carpet for her. Spending Christmas with the family before getting married, a ridiculously lavish wedding, Charles walked her down the isle, a high profile engagement with the Queen, high profile patronages, high profile tours. Whatever reservations or concerns they may have had, they gave this couple a big platform. They will not repeat this mistake again with William’s children.

NP. She was a top student at competitive private boarding schools and was accepted at University of Edinburgh, one of Britain’s and World’s top colleges. In fact, she was bullied in school for being “too perfect”. She sure has a lot of grit and is quite good at playing the long game. She seems uncomfortable and nervous in front of large audiences but very personable and good at building rapport in small groups or one on one. She seems pretty good at reading the room and understanding where her role fits in at any point in time. Also pretty good at managing staff, those who work with her stay and are loyal. The causes she champions are aligned with her long time interests and I don’t see her jumping on the issue du jour. She has been in the public eye for 20 years and she is consistent. She is always polished and very professional in her engagements.

She is very good at the job she has been assigned.

DP. She is beautiful and seems like at least in the past she was nice. However, being able to speak comfortably in front of large groups of people is an essential part of the job so I’m not sure that it is possible to be good at it without that. It’s like if you’re a litigator and your nice and good at writing briefs. But if you can’t confidently speak in front of a judge you really can’t be that great at your job.

That's William's role, not hers. Being good at small groups or one-on-one is hers.

Why can't he just compliment Kate without the petty bashing of Meghan? He's trying to convey that Kate is "winning" in some rivalry between the two women, but he does it in a way that just reminds the reader how nasty the tabloids and BRF are toward Meghan.
