After hearing about them for years, I finally had one of the famous cupcakes everyone's raving about...and I just don't get it.
It was pretty, but the cake part wasn't even that moist and the frosting was too much. The cake I make from a mix tastes so much better. I really don't get that people stand in line for these things and pay so much money for 25 cents worth of ingredients, and there seem to be new cupcake shops opening up all over the place. Can someone explain the attraction to me? |
| Sorry to say this OP, but it's just another scam to get a fool to pay $5.00 bucks for a $.50 cupcake. I' did the same so I know whereof I speak. |

I had similar skepticism. I hate the majority of "gourmet" cupcakes i've tasted. Georgetown cupcakes being amongst the worst, imo. That said, I do really like some of hello cupcake's cupcakes. They're the only ones that I would feel are worth going back for.
But if it were between georgetown cupcakes and safeway cupcakes? Safeway wins, at least in my area. |

I never have had one either
but do occationally make them to please the kids. |
| The cupcakes at the BakeShop are AMAZING and they are well priced. I HIGHLY recommend them. Their chipwiches are also great. |

If it's taken you this long to even try them, chances are you are not a cupcake aficionado. And that's ok, that just means more for the rest of us.
I happen to love Georgetown Cupcakes. I also like the ones I make from a box. |
| make your own from scratch for 25c each and if that's too much- get a $1 box from the supermarket.. gourmet isn't all that in my experience, |
| GC cupcakes are scrumptious, but the long line is ridiculous and annoying. Also it's starting to look dirty in the store, which I guess is inevitable when they are constantly inundated by customers. Baked and Wired (also in G'town) is just as good and no time suck... I will NOT stand in the line at GC. When I do get GC, I preorder and just go to the front. Have done this for a couple of girlfriends' b-day parties. |
| I agree. I finally tasted a GC this year and was surprised at how not very good it was. It looked gorgeous, though. I just laugh when I see the lines - great business. |
| I am a cupcake fanatic but I think there are a lot of other cupcakes places that are better than GC. I don't like the frosting on their red velvet cupcake |
| Well you know, they didn't think anyone was going to pay for bottled water... |
|
I agree, maybe I'm not a cupcake person, but that would be weird since I like cake
People have brought me these a few times, I really didn't get it. Not there is anything wrong with the people who love them, I just didn't like them, they seemed dry, and the frosting was waaaaay to much Debbie downer, I know |
| The frosting is the best part! "Crumbs" is my personal favorite. |
| The frosting looks like a coil of poop. |
You're messed up.
