Chief Engineer small 20 person DOD contractor
$210K + 20% bonus. |
Independent consultant here. At any given time, I have 2 projects going on, each with a rate between $150-$200/hr. I am extremely good at what I do, I am typically able to finish 80hrs of work in 50-60hrs/week. Ten years back I was a Sr. Director with a top defense company, left it to work for myself and haven’t looked back. |
Huh, so you're rate is $200/hr, and you bill your clients for 80hrs while working 60hrs? Isn't that fraud? |
This illustrates the reason so many private sector tech companies are establishing a DC presence - there is a lot of talent here that is undermarket making government salaries. Not to say everyone wants that lifestyle, but there are skilled people here available in this market at a much lower cost vs. the bay area. |
These projects are agreed at 40hrs minimum, for a less experienced person it may take 50-60hrs to finish them. It’s not my fault if I can finish it in 30. Get over yourself! |
| Senior embedded software engineer in the aerospace industry 180k. However embedded engineering jobs are disappearing in the US, don’t believe the crap you see on indeed. These days data engineering and security engineering are the IT sectors with great demand. |
You are full of shi%. You aren't even using the correct terminology. Fake news. |
You can't take a hourly rate contract and commit time card fraud and bill it as if it were a firm fixed price contract , assigning whatever random hours you believe it would "typically" take. I'm an actual senior leader at an tech company working in the public sector and you my friend are scum that ks cheating tax payers. Someone needs to check your IP address and file a fraud report with OIG. If you are really in tech then you'd know how easy it would be to doxx you. |
Many. 240k + bonus. SDE for contractor. |
Isn’t there a rule that contractors can’t make more than the top GS scale salary? |
LOL! There is t a single person on my team of Gov Contractors that makes less than the GS15 step 10. Good luck finding cleared software developers for anything less than 180k |
Yeah depends on contract. Not every contract is for a body shop; some are SLA and provide services or products, and the price covers staff at much high rates |
No |
By cleared you mean getting your ts? |
The contractor compensation cap appears to be around $550K. https://aronsonllc.com/compensation-cap-for-2019-and-2020/ |
