You have to look at the SAT of ENROLLED freshmen, not those who appplied and were admitted.

Did you even read the links? If you read the second link, those are the stats of the ENROLLED freshman at Tulane. I guess BU’s enrolled stats could be even lower.

It may not be logical the way you've drawn such a conclusion based on what you wish to believe.
However, the two schools are located in completely different regions, each with its own distinct characteristics, but both are likely to attract capable students.

Additionally, because BU has a large student body, it's possible there is a broader spectrum of students.
FYI, here are the ED1 statistics for the class of 2028 at BU.

* The average GPA for accepted students was 3.87
* Of the students accepted, 35% submitted standardized test scores. The average SAT score was 1454 and the average ACT score was 32

Especially, the regular admission competition is known to be more intense, and there are many variables that will play a role in the students' decisions to enroll.

I am just responding to the PP that said as fact that BU students have higher stats. They don’t have higher stats. The kids admitted and attending are about the same. I haven’t seen Tulane stats for ED students, but for the class of 2028 admitted (yes, I understand, not enrolled) have been released “average GPA of 3.8, average SAT of 1490, and an average ACT of 33.” Pretty similar to previous years enrolled and also BU’s enrolled and admitted stats. The point is that BU kids do not have “better stats” than Tulane kids. It is just BS propagated by a Tulane hater. They should visit and see that it is a wonderful school filled with smart, academic kids, just like BU!

Two of the schools you listed are in Cambridge. One is in Medford (conservatory in Boston, though). One is in Newton.

Maybe you’re not familiar w geography. The southeast includes: Virginia, North & South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Kentucky, & Texas (even excluding Texas you’ve got a good list of prestigious schools in the SE

Ummmmm..., Duke, Vanderbilt, UNC, Washington and Lee, Davidson, even Wake Forest are better schools than Tulane that are in the South. Not just Emory

You’re responding to me here. I was thinking of a region that includes Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina, and maybe Arkansas and Kentucky. Duke and Vanderbilt are both clearly more prestigious than Tulane. I’m not sure about the other North Carolina schools you list really are. If Wake Forest is, maybe The Citadel and Sewanee are. But I see a lot of Tulane professors on TV, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Citadel or Sewanee professor on TV.

The only BU faculty member I’ve ever seen on TV is Isaac Asimov.

So, at a prestige parlor game level, I think Tulane beats places like Sewanee.

I’ve never heard anyone define the southeast as just these states. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Why would you include Arkansas and Kentucky ( “maybe”??) but not Tennessee or North Carolina (which are both farther south than Kentucky btw)?

I’m a DP but also as an employer, I’d be more interested in what the student achieved at the solid school. Did they take advantage of research and campus opportunities to develop their skill set and support the community while successfully balancing academics, and do they have strong references.I’d pick a person like that over a simply “prestige” candidate.
