My guess is, they won’t respund. They are likely flooded with these emails now and they would rather have a cult like mystery surrounding them.

haha..too funny. There is one part of me who wants that but I know benefits of AAP programs. So hope not.

Since it's already end of Apr 6th, I think they have been mailed and we should get them sometime this week. Some people might get them tomorrow if they started mailing on Monday.

So what are the benefits of AAP? Can you elaborate please, I want to know in detail.

They're not going to admit it, but moms on here want their kids in AAP because there are more white and Asian kids, fewer black and hispanic kids.

Huh??

DP. Meaning "they're not that concerned with the advanced level of academics, they just don't want their kids going to school with Black kids". It's not most of them, but you're kidding yourself if you don't understand there are at least a few of these.

AART confirmed AAP office was delayed and now plans to send notifications tomorrow (4/8) via email. Just another FCPS communication fail.

I would not doubt this is true, probably because with virtual school so many parents have seen how pathetically low the typical classroom curriculum is and have decided their kids need more challenging work.

Not sure how virtual learning correlates with "more" students applying this year. This by itself is flawed. The only official test taken and supported by empirical data is the NNAT. If kids didn't score 132 or higher, they aren't part of the pool. Sure, parents can still submit a referral but without letters of recommendations and/or piano, chest completion results, etc., being considered by FCPS, the number of parents applying this year for level IV is a lot lower than you think.

This what I read in the email they sent for inpool in december: You will be notified of the selection committee’s decision by the middle of April, so it may be in mid of April not in beginning of April.

Eligibility decisions are sent April 5-6.

Whether by email or snail mail or carrier pigeon is not yet known.

I got a good chuckle out of this. I think it's carrier pigeon.

Thank you for reporting back what you heard!

Anonymous wrote:We got the in-pool email on Dec 7, the exact date mentioned in the timeline on the AAP page. No snail mail, as far as I remember.

We got it snail mail after the deadline. I can't believe even this depended on school principal/AAP leaders.

Anonymous wrote:They will using a hybrid approach to notification this year - roughly 40% will receive letters in the mail while 60% will receive emails. You selected your method the time you very first communicated with someone at FCPS for your child - by phone or letter -- you "Opted in" to postal AAP notification. By email -- you "opted in" to email notification. There may be some slight differences school-by-school, depending on factors district administrators cannot articulate. Everyone is trying their best.

So "grace" is needed.

Thanks! Here’s hoping they come through with that.

Our AART also said the decisions will probably be sent out on April 8th.

Oh goodness with these stupid narratives. My kid has more black and brown kids in her AAP class than she did in gen ed. She gets faster math. She's happy. I'm happy.
