Can we boycott Georgia?

She manages to evade the question and be condescending at the same time. #Unity

The corporations and organizations boycotting and condemning GA are the same ones that are happily doing business — some eagerly cutting deals to expand business — in an authoritarian country running concentration camps.

True. And Facebook is the worst offender. They should all be called to task. And it should have started a few years ago, before Trump, the GOP and those business leaders turned a blind eye.

Heck.... even the MLB is guilty. But, voter ID in GA is apparently worse.

Opposing voter suppression -- which is what the Georgia bill is -- isn't "politics."

It's citizenship.

Voting is a right and putting up barriers to the exercise of that right is wholly anti-American. There's no "both sides" here. One is right and one is wrong.

Except when non-citizens, dead people, falsely identified, and fake people are voting. Then it is called fraud. That is also wrong, as is preventing a citizen from voting. This is not “either or”, this is try to get it right by preventing fraudulent voting while enabling legal voting. You do believe in this right? Or, are you just in favor of whatever favors your party’s candidates?

Georgia sucks so I've always tried to avoid it. But, this voting bill is no big deal. It is a facade that won't effect anything other than social media posts and self-serving CEO statements. #allcitizensbutonlycitizensofallracesandsocioeconomicstatusshouldvote

I'm surprised we're not hearing arguments that voter registration itself is voter suppression. Why even have to register?

Then you must be utterly appalled that there are any time, place, and manner requirements at all.

I’d expect the Dems to quickly distance themselves from this as quickly as possible by claiming that the President’s comment were taken out of context and are not the issue, that the owners and executives of MLB are Republicans, and that when the President spoke the decision to move the All Star game had already been made for issues unrelated to the Georgia voting law and are trying to pin the rose on Democrats for that decision. Guarantee it.
Atlanta will be the site of the Democrat Convention in 2024 as a condolence though.

The only examples of false people voting in 2020 all happen to be republicans. There is absolutely ZERO proof of dead people (this was alleged in Georgia and proven to be false) non-citizens or fake people voting. I agree, that is fraud, but it isn't happening except in the minds of Trump followers who are listening to the rants of a madman.

If you have proof, please show it. I mean, even Sydney Powell said she lied to the courts.

Biden has been wrong on every step of this issue.

Every statement he has made about it is false. Every one. And, he has even been called out by the media.

Then, he has the audacity to go on ESPN and support this move based on his damned lies. What a guy.

You are probably right - they will have the convention there. Probably being negotiated now.

No, not at all. The voting day rules are when elections and ballot collection ends.

Unliike Trump, Biden was parroting what he was told, not conjuring the "lies" himself. Election law is complex, and the issues with the Georgia law are nuanced. It is very hard to explain, though the Microsoft statement posted in this thread does a pretty good job of explaining it.

The fact is, the GOP did some ok things, and some really horrible things in this bill. The horrible outweighs the good, and if they really wanted to do it right, they would have at least tried to make it bi-partisan (like Biden tried with the GOP on the CoVID releif bill) - but they didn't. They literally slammed it through and then had a closed signing to get it in place. That is not open and transparent. This bill is literally Jim Crow 2.0. Either it needs to be rescinded or else the state and its businesses will suffer because no one of moral conscious wants to be assocaited with it.

One example. And, remember..... the election in IOWA-2 was decided by 6 votes.

The State Election Board on Wednesday referred 35 cases of election-law violations to the attorney general or local district attorneys for criminal prosecution.

“Election fraud is not tolerated in Georgia. When there is evidence of it, the people responsible face prosecution,” said Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, chairman of the five-member board. “Georgia has multiple safeguards in place that allow our team of investigators to discover fraudulent voting. They worked to catch the wrongdoing in these cases, and they maintain the security of Georgia elections.”

Of those bound over for prosecution Wednesday for alleged violations of Georgia election law, the most noteworthy are:

· The New Georgia Project which allegedly submitted 1,268 voter registration applications after the 10-day deadline, causing voters to be disenfranchised in the March 19, 2019 special election

· Samunta S of Atlanta for allegedly submitting 70 false voter registration applications while canvassing for the Coalition for the People’s Agenda

· Floyd J and the Fayette County Board of Elections and Voter Registration where he was director at the time for alleged improper handling of four memory cards registering 2,760 votes in the Nov. 3, 2020 general election

· Joseph B of Atlanta for allegedly registering to vote while serving a felony sentence

· Hassan M of Decatur for allegedly voting while serving a felony sentence

· Michael W of Columbus for allegedly voting while serving a felony sentence

· Brian P of Cherry Log for allegedly voting while serving a felony sentence

· Talibah B of Lilburn for allegedly submitting a false voter registration application

· Sharmaine S of Lithonia for allegedly submitting a false voter registration application

· Sophia S of Valdosta for allegedly voting in another person’s name

· Albert N of Winder for allegedly voting as a non-citizen

· Sean W of Covington for allegedly voting as a non-citizen

· Clifton S of Fairburn for allegedly registering to vote as a non-citizen

· Hurlstone H of Locust Grove for allegedly voting as a non-citizen
