Will the WTU illegally strike? Not return on 2/1

I think we need to see how many kids actually show up and continue to show up after Presidents Day before we make any assumptions about anything

My kid would show up if our school was actually reopening. My kid is really suffering psychologically. Play therapy isn’t helping. My kid wasn’t offered one of our 55 or so spots because she’s doing well academically and no one would know she’s a mess. Everything about this plan is bad. Would be great if kids could take spots at other schools that aren’t filling. Sure I get it’s a logistical nightmare. But it’s not like grades are real this year anyway.

Spots were not based on academics.

At Risk
IEP/504
ELL

Those are priority, after that it's based on parent need.

At our school spots were certainly offered based on academic concerns.

I mean how well a student is doing academically. My child has an IEP and gets all A's and received a spot.

Did they say that? Or is academic concern the result of the student not logging on and/or challenging behaviors?

At Deal kids with multiple Fs during the first advisory were offered slots.

My kid, who had all As & Bs was offered a spot, but his teachers knew how much he was struggling (and the extent of the parent support he needed) so they recommended he get a spot. We are so grateful!

Email from WTU “we believe that teachers who have been asked to return for in-person PD and classroom set-up on Wednesday and the remainder of this week should return.”

Are you a teacher? This is a good sign.

Yes. I’m one who didn’t participate in the sick out last time either.
