Mclean boundary changes - can someone please update?

Eliminating split feeders is just one potential consideration. They did more work based on the earlier feedback and came up with a sensible approach.

Cooper would be overrun and chaotic (in the middle of construction, no less). Or you'd have a tiny portion of Longfellow students go to Langley, which is far worse than an ES-level split feeder.

I doubt it. The public would be furious they spent so much time to do nothing. I suspect they will do modified C. They have the new quad/trailer thing so there is more space at McLean. We know Langley is under-subscribed and that isn't changing. They will make a change and then I suspect a few years later make another. I suspect next year will be concurrent and some DL until kids are vaccinated if these new dangerous and/or highly contagious strains keep coming. They won't truly know the numbers until the 2022-2023 school year and then if some people who left for private school hear the school is running well you may have more come 2023-2024. So 2024 they send another lump of kids to Langley. Meanwhile if they are smart they will put McLean on the queue for a real expansion, which won't actually happen for many years.

Oh forgot to mention, they other reason they should do modified C and not total C is, you don't want to overcrowd Cooper.

I wouldn’t be furious. I’d be relieved they were waiting until they knew the impact of what they were doing. Right now they are flying blind.

Sensible? No it is lazy and sloppy work. Some speakers have pointed out that Spring Hill is still a split feeder but far less go to Longfellow-Mclean. In fact it would be a ridiculously low number. Moreover the chain of Vienna Islands is more isolated. Mod C actually splits relatively small HOA's. So exactly where would they put any of Springhill other than Mclean or Langley? Nowhere.

Note the Vienna Islands extend all the way to South Lakes neighborhoods so consolidating Vienna Islands is silly. Shouse is a huge Vienna Island which used to be at Langley. However Madison in FCPS's infinite wisdom is getting an addition. Westbriar Island west of Shouse is at Marshall.

They should just move the rest of Colvin Run. Eliminate 1 split feeder and not overcrowd Cooper.

If they are going to change boundaries, a scenario where they don't move part of Tysons to Langley is unacceptable. They can't saddle two schools - McLean and Marshall - with all of the current and future Tysons growth when they haven't added any permanent seats to McLean and added fewer to Marshall during its renovation than they added to Langley and now plan to add to Madison.

The growth isn't coming so fast. A lot of people will probably be able to work from home long past the pandemic. I wonder how many of those new offices in Tysons will end up empty. They probably want to do something -make a small to moderate change and then re-assess post-pandemic.
