But it’s not from ToT’ing! All of the parties and gatherings people are now having will cause covid transmission more than Trick or Treating would have. People are so short-sighted. Sigh... Understand human behavior and work around it. |
Super spreader events are causing this increase. College parties (tons of sharing drinks, sucking face, sex, etc.. - no masks) Large gatherings like the Rose Garden were no one is masked, everyone is hugging, eating together inside. People not wearing masks, not socially distancing, and not washing hands. Trick or treating is none of that. It is outside, the kids will be wearing masks, and no door to door since the families in our neighborhood will be in their driveway at least 6ft apart and doing contactless candy. So can you tell me how the Rona is going to spread? The houses are on at least 1/4 acre and there are never a ton of kids on the streets Halloween night pre-covid. So I am actually curious how you think this is going to spread in my neighborhood. I am an RN. I work 12hr shifts in a mask. My kid goes to preschool in a mask and my 3rd grader goes to private in a mask. My husband works construction in a mask. We take precautions as much as possible, but we have moved on with our lives safely. Do you not get take-out food, drinks, go to the grocery store, etc.... All of those are dangerous than my child grabbing a piece of candy off a table, a chute, candy being placed with a long tongs, or using a zipline (yes, two people in our neighborhood built them just for Halloween.) You can continue to try and push scare tactics and make people feel guilty. Trick or Treating is still on. Just turn your light off and stay inside. IT IS A CHOICE |
We are doing a small loop with 2 friends outside and then having our own special Halloween dinner. I went all our with decor and a fancy cake. No guests, just my mother in law. |
If my kids can’t go to school, they are damn sure going to have Halloween. Thankfully my neighbors agree. |
I'm in Ashburn in a neighborhood with gazillion of kids. The homes are decorated and people already have their usual set up planned with bonfires and such. We are having our usual gathering of families who come from their boring neighborhoods with no kids and tot in ours.
Maybe because we don't live in the city, but people out here have been pretty chill. My kids have been seeing their friends inside homes since summer. The only change to our life has been school. I so know one one odd duck family who has been bunkered down since March. I think there's some mental health struggles going on there. |
+1,000 |
Our bethesda neighborhood is putting out tables in driveways with the candy on it. Someone in a mask may monitor it form across the table that every kid takes one only. One candy or one baggie of candy.

Covid is going to be here for a long time. Vaccine or not. Learn to take precautions, manage through the precautions and live a more normal life. |
My kids are thrilled. Watching everyone set up tables, chutes, and even a catapult. Love our neighbors!! |
I’m not catapulting shit! I assume if you’re trick or treating you’re okay with any risk there might be including touching my candy. I’m not creating trebuchets to fling m&ms at them. |
And if everyone continues to live like this we will never get back in school. Are my kids trick or treating? Yes. Are we gathering with all the neighbors and hanging out at each others houses? No. Cause we went to go to school one day. I digress but this is so typical of the ashburn mindset. |
You are no better than anyone else if you are going out tonight. We live in a culture where its all about me and many cannot make sacrifices for the greater good. |
Not from kids walking around outside. |
We had a blast all day - playground, scavenger hunt, th en trick or treating. While street is lined with tables near the street and treat bags plus awesome decorations |
We just got back and my neighborhood was great. Plenty of candy and the tables were well decorated. It was really nice and normal. The houses with candy shutes were a big hit with DCs and I appreciate the effort. |
