Is a good atheist better then a bad christian?

Your proof? How about a bad Christian vs a good Jew? Does your god still pick the bad Christian?

Yes Christians are all saved. We are all imperfect. We have all sinned (yes even the good ones).

I think that it is normal and natural to question God and His existence. It is normal to waver in your faith. In the end, it is what is in your heart that matters the most.

Not in my religion. Belief in God and acceptance of Christ’s death as salvation matter in my religion. In my religion that’s the only way to be saved.

Each person had their own choices, but religions usually have, for lack of a better word and to be very simple, rules.

Plus what you deem good may not be good to another person. You may think you are good but be bad. It’s all relative.

Christianity has rules, tenets, traditions, beliefs, etc. Christians don’t chose those, God does. Christians choose to believe in them. The Christian God knows there are no “good” Christians.

Romans 3:10-12 English Standard Version (ESV)

10 as it is written:

“None is righteous, no, not one;
11 no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one.”

Christians are imperfect and sinful and the only difference is we know that and seek God. We rely on Him and not ourselves, and also know God hates sin.

If we love God, we will try hard- and fail, unfortunately, to not sin.

There are a lot of Christians who are false and bad. That sucks and also God knows they are false. He isn’t fooled.

And if at the end of their lives they repent, then they go to heaven just as if they'd been good all their lives.

But any atheists, who have not done any of those false and bad things, will go to hell, because they didn't believe in God. It will be a surprise to them, because they thought they'd just die and their lives would be over like all other animals. But no, they will wake up in Christian hell, for an eternity of suffering, all because they failed to believe in the Christian god.

Some people say, why take the chance? Even if you find it hard to believe, you might as well act as if you believe, just in case, to avoid such a horrible fate. But some people figure that if god is all-knowing, certainly he will know that they are faking belief and send them to hell anyway. God doesn't want phonies in Heaven.

A valid question.

I would like to believe that a good person regardless of religion or lack of is better then bad person regardless of religion or lack thereof.
If God is good and just then it would be logical that he puts good over bad.

God IS good and just. That's why ALL of us need a savior for our sins, which we all have. And He provided one in Himself, the LORD Jesus Christ. He doesn't care about labels, and His forgiveness is available to everyone in the world. If you refuse to believe in Him, that's your prerogative, but the LORD won't be blamed at the Judgment.

It's Free Will -- another gift from god, that gives us the choice to accept him and go to heaven or reject him and go to hell. He can't force us, but he can (and does) make clear which is the best choice. Everlasting life or burn forever -- you choose.

No, no. Christians can do no wrong, especially if they are White.

Of course, we kill the Christians with the name of Hey-Sus, who come from Mexico and seperate them from their children.

And HE - the good and just God -- will send you to hell for eternity. Why? Because you didn't believe in Him! Sounds like a scam to me. Yet some people believe it. Why? perhaps it makes them feel superior - or like they caught a lucky break.

Of course you don’t get it. You aren’t a believer. None of it makes sense to you and it never will. You’ll never find wisdom or peace or answers or comfort from religion, because you don’t believe. It’s not a mystery. Those of us that do believe do find those things. It’s understandable you think religion is a scam because you chose to call it false and say God is false. People who believe believe. It’s simple.

How would you explain it to someone who was sincerely interested in becoming a Christian, but was having dificulty accepting the idea of God sending people to hell for eternity for not believing in him?

“Just because God is loving, does not mean that he loves everything—there are some things that God doesn’t love, that in fact he hates. So he doesn’t love murder, or abuse, or selfishness, or pride. Actually, if he is loving, then he will hate these things. It wouldn’t be very loving of God to look at something like child abuse and say: “Well, I’m not really that bothered.”

So God is loving—and yet he doesn’t love everything.

And because this loving God hates bad things, he does something about it. And this is good news. We all have a kind of a sense of justice—so it’s good news that people who mistreat others are not allowed into God’s perfect kingdom, but are shut out—that is, they’re sent to hell.

And it’s not something that Jesus says flippantly or lightly, without caring. He doesn’t say it just to scare us. But he does say it to warn us—and to help us see how amazing it is that he offers us a way out.

Because this is the amazing news—that even though we all deserve punishment, even though we deserve to go to hell, Jesus—God himself—has provided a way out for us. He doesn’t do this by leaving things unpunished, and so forgetting about justice. He does it by himself taking our place; in his death taking our punishment and himself experiencing hell so that we don’t have to.

It seems to me as if this is a truly loving God. He loves the world enough to punish wrongdoing, and he loves people enough to take the punishment himself.

He loves us enough to give us a choice: we can to ask him to be part of our lives now, and so avoid hell and look forward to enjoying his perfect eternal kingdom.“

https://www.christianityexplored.org/Articles/469280/CE_ORG/Tough_Questions/Transcripts/07_How_can_a_loving.aspx

If you reject God but also believe he exists, I don’t know what to tell you. Agnostic and Atheists don’t believe in God and thus I don’t know why they would care what a God they don’t believe in does.

And the thing God hates the most is someone who doesn't believe in him. You can do all the good things mentioned above, but if you don't believe in God, then he sends you to hell, no matter what.

Atheists and agnostics don't believe it, but in the end, it won't matter, because, if there truly is a god, they will still end up in hell. But at least they spend their short lives here on earth not fearing it.

God even sacrificed his own son as a way of showing his love for us. If anyone else did anything like that, they be sent straight to prison, or maybe the psychiatric ward. But God did it out of his love for us and Christians understand that.

I think claiming all atheists don’t do false and bad things is where you show your naivety. Nobody can claim all people of any religion are good or bad, not all people of any country or race or whatever are good or bad.

There are bad and evil atheists, just as there and bad and evil Christians.

Dimitrios Pagourtzis, Santa Fe, Texas shooter who killed at least 10 people at a public school, described himself as an atheist on his Facebook page (May 2018)[5]

Your should educate yourself about the Christian God. You don’t know the basics about Him and His relationship with His creations. I don’t know Allah and if I wanted to know about him and speak about Him I’d sure read a lot of literature written by scholars of Islam before I’d assume anything or make my own theories.

No one ever said they were. and many atheists are laid back, kind, caring, and peaceful. Just like many Christians and people of other religions.

Being religious (or not) is no guarantee of personality.

I understand that religion has rules and that belief in God is one of those rules. However, it is not unusual for even the most devout Christians to have a crisis of faith. It happens and I truly believe that God understands that and surrounds us with His love when that happens.

I have also known church goers who claim to believe in God. They know exactly what to say and how to appear like good Christians but in reality they live some messed up lives and do some messed up and unkind things...sometimes in "the name" of God.

I think that it is normal and natural to question God and His existence. It is normal to waver in your faith. In the end, it is what is in your heart that matters the most.

Not in my religion. Belief in God and acceptance of Christ’s death as salvation matter in my religion. In my religion that’s the only way to be saved.
