You people who think its ok for your animals to pee on the patch of lawn between the curb and the sidewalk are way off. I'm sure there are a lot of people like me who care about our home's curb appeal, and get really frustrated to see dead patches of grass there. So, have some consideration, because you're not the one who has to reseed those dead patches to bring back that curb appeal. |
I do not know where you live, but in Virginia that is not your property but you are required to maintain it (cut the grass). Or leave it as first/weeds. Once a sidewalk is in the county or state paid for it and the curb/drainage. Maybe you paid for a private sidewalk, not sure. I own dogs and have one the best maintained lawns in my neighborhood; because I enjoy the hobby and esthetics. I would be the first to have my dogs piss on that strip in front of your house if you lived in my neighborhood. |
Although homeowners don’t own that piece of grass, I do try to steer clear if someone has clearly put time and money into maintaining it. It’s just courteous. Try being a better neighbor. |
Put up a fence if you don’t want people or dogs walking on your lawn. That’s the only option. |
This thread in the middle of pandemic is a glimmer of hope that life is coming back to normal.. people are worrying about stupid things again. ![]() |
OMG. You won't have to worry about stepping in the leaf covered poop if you stay the hell out of her yard. |
First, get a life. Seriously. A dog occasionally peeing on your lawn is not going to kill it. It's just not. I've had dogs my entire life. I've also had other dogs pee in my yard. Get a hobby. Second, my rules are this: dog poops, I pick it up. Wherever that may be. I do not let my dog go far onto others' property b/c I know there are people like OP who are very concerned over their little estate and any intrusion thereon. I will let them pee on the perimeter (eg., where the grass meets the road, on the mailbox bottom, etc.). Some don't like even that. I just don't care, honestly. It doesn't affect them. It's not destructive. They won't smell it. I had a guy come out and yell at me for my dog peeing on the grass by the road. He was carrying on loudly. I just let my dog finish and ignored him. I carry my poo bags home and deposit in my own garbage. Depositing in the trash bins left out for pick also offends some people - despite the fact that they already put spoiled food, and used hygiene products in it already. I'm not saying people don't have the "right" to object to the above. I am saying that people who do are ridiculous. |
This thread is eye opening. I truly had no idea that I shouldn’t let my dog pee in yards. We live in a big walkable neighborhood and everyone’s dogs are walking and peeing and using yards. Just didn’t realize this was a thing. |
I'm being serious when I say that I find your comment eye opening. How can you possibly think that it's OK to let your dog pee in someone else's yard? |
PP is seriously entitled |
+1. My dog may pee on the edge of your lawn if I'm not attentive enough but I don't allow her to walk a over your lawn. Your neighbor is a jerk. |
Keep your dog/their poop/their pee off of other people's property. Period. End of discussion. Some of you dog owners are so disgusting and entitled. Everyone does not worship your dog the way you do. |
I honestly didn’t realize it was a thing until my neighbor friend mentioned dog pee kills grass. We live in townhouses, so we both have yards and dogs. I stopped letting my dog do it from that point on. I don’t think it’s entitlement, but ignorance (in the true meaning of the word). [NP—or an earlier poster; I can’t remember] |
I live in a corner lot and this year has been extremely frustrating with dog owners not picking up. What I find unfair is a lot of these dog owners think it is okay to use the curb grass on my property and other corner properties but I see them skip the non corner properties. I understand curb lawn is city owned but come on if your going to be fair then use everybody's curb lawn. |
I wish people would have their dogs pee and poop in their own yards. It’s so gross and annoying and the pee kills grass.
And I am a dog owner...I have a really dumb English Bulldog and we trained her to go in a landscaped bed of rocks so she doesn’t kill the grass. She doesn’t pee or poop on walks. If my dodo dog can be trained, yours can be too! |
