Your grass is not brown because YOU also let your dogs pee and poop in other’s lawn, not yours. You are ONE of them. |
Understanding usually involves abstract thinking, abstract thinking usually involves the ability to percieve how ones actions (or their dog's actions) might affect another. So, it seems that there are a majority of dog owners (especially my neighbors) who don't seem to have the ability to think abstractly, otherwise they may think, 'Hmm...since this is not my property, I will make sure Fifi uses our property for urination and defecation instead of our neighbors property"... wouldn't that be nice? I honestly believe these offenders just don't care. What ever happened to common decency and respecting others, that is a rhetorical question, since they wouldn't understand. I think it's beyond their comprehension. Too bad, because it has just gotten worse. But, since they are incapable of respecting others, we the infuriated must do what we can to make theirs and their dog's life misaerable. All is fair in love and war. As one can probably discern, I despise dogs for this very reason. |
You sound unhinged. |
Has it ever occurred to some of you that many people walk dogs because they don’t have yards in the first place? Dogs have to pee. Dogs have to poop. They’re outside. As long as people aren’t leaving poop in your yard or actively walking into your yard (vs what their dog can access on leash from the sidewalk) then they’re not doing anything wrong. |
You sound like a dog owner |
Same - our dog pees and poops in the first few minutes of the walk, so we are still on our own property. He is trained to pee on the mulch in our backyard. We only have to walk by 5-6 houses before we are in the park and on public trails. On the trails, I let him pee off the side of the trail, and 100% of the time, it is on a tree where another dog has already peed. If he has a second poop in him, I pick it up. He is always leashed in the neighborhood, so there's no opportunity to pee or poop on anyone's lawn. We also don't have mailboxes in our neighborhood, which I think helps cut down on dogs being tempted to mark. |
It is so much ruder to train your dog to p!ss and sh!t all over the public sidewalks rather than some bored, miserable old jerk’s precious grass. |
I don’t let my dog pee in other people’s yards. But with that said, he is slowly dying of a brain tumor so bladder and bowel control can be difficult and he just sometimes will go where he is when we our out for our short stroll. |
And.
When your dog is out, it must be on a leash. Period. |
I am honestly surprised how many people think they are entitled to let their dogs pee/poop on someone else's property. I knew it happened, but I assumed it was a small minority of people who were either jerks or desperate (lots of people who break rules do so because they are disorganized and can't figure out basic stuff).
Once I tried to adopt a dog from ASPCA in California and I was turned down, because they didn't feel my home was stable enough for dog ownership (I had only been living and working there for 6 months and only recently finished school). I remember at the time thinking it was so unfair, but in retrospect it was obviously the right thing. I am starting to think we should require more people to apply to have dogs. It's a big responsibility, and it appears many of you are not up to it! |
My dog loves water. But don't worry my dog doesn't go where he isn't allowed |
I owned a lab/pit who would've treated this like a splash park, given the opportunity, but she was always on leash because I don't suck as a person. |
Lots of wrong answers above about there being no standard practice. Dogs can pee or poop on the public right-of-way only (if your neighborhood has no sidewalks, this would be the 2ish ft edge of your lawn that abuts the street; or if sidewalks it is the strip of grass btw sidewalk and street). They are not allowed to let a dog wander/pee/poop further in than that. The dog is trespassing on your property and damaging it. Legally, he can be held liable for each act of trespass - nominal amount per trespass, plus the cost of repairing any damage, like replacing sod, plants, cleaning, etc., plus punitive damages. So this dude should not be letting the dog pee on anyone’s private property. He sounds unhinged with his gaslighting behavior. |
The dog should not be allowed to explore someone’s property to begin with. Keep the dog in the easement grass. Our family would like to use our front yard to play with kids. When you allow your dog to crap in our yard and you think that you picked it up, well, some residual gets on my kid’s shoes! Please keep your dog on the easement grass. |
+1 I always walk my dog where I’m walking in between her and someone’s yard. So she’s forced to go on the easement grass instead of someone’s property. It’s not that hard. |
