This is the most logical thing that has been said in this thread. By all accounts, the MD teams have been better run, and better positioned for success, than WSVA. MD announced last week the end of the Spirit affiliation and the move to Baltimore Armour. Given this fact (not rumor) about the MD teams, one has to ask why the VA teams would be treated differently by Spirit. Maybe Spirit told both MD and VA that Spirit was getting out of youth after the 19-20 season, and the MD team decided to make the break a year early?

Time will tell with the VA teams, but the MD teams are already split from Spirit for next year.

If you mean an official announcement on the DA or Baltimore Armour website, then no, it has not been officially announced. But, as you said, the coaches have told the players and parents. If anyone doesn't believe it, come to the games this weekend at Evergreen and ask any of the MD parents.

If that's true, where is the official announcement? Why hasn't it been posted? That makes no sense either. Announcements like that go up online. Even the defunct airline WOW posted something on their main page.

I have no idea why the announcement is not yet on the site, and I don't really care whether you choose to believe me or not. I understand your skepticism, especially with the anti-Spirit people on this site. But I am also being sincere in telling you that, if you don't believe the couple MD posters on this thread, then come watch us play FCV on Saturday and ask any of the MD parents. WSVA has no DA games scheduled this weekend. Come see for yourself.

I believe you. I don't think there's anything anti-Spirit about stating there will be a change to the management of the DA teams. It's the posters saying that the DA teams will be dissolved or absorbed by FCV that are the trolls.

I think there's a lot of benefit to splitting the management of the DA teams away from the pro team....resources always give priority to the pro team and not enough to the DA. Also, maybe the costs can come down if the DA teams are separate. That;s been a common complaint here, especially when tied to the controversial ticket.

Yes-those are called DP players and every DA in the area has them. Not unusual at all.

WSDA players are listed as GFR players for the sole purpose of playing on fairfax county fields. In order for GFR to have those fields and for the numbers to be used for field allocation it must work like that. The TD of GFR does not have the credentials to coach a DA team much less run a DA club. Only way club can get a DA affiliation would be with massive leadership change.

I think the point is the current WSVA coaches do not currently meet USSF requirements for DA coaches. They're supposed to all have B licenses.

Were you exaggerating or just being dumb? There aren’t 08 girls playing with 05’s. There is one 07 and occasionally one 06.

All the details will come out in time. Part of the plan will be tight rosters. An affiliation with GFR can be retained without calling the DA team GFR. Remember Loudoun’s DA team last year as a partner club. Relax, you got part of what you wished for but not all of it. There will be a DA formerly known as Spirit, as much as you hate the idea.
