MCPS curriculum RFP-Second Attempt

Interesting. How is it possible that Discovery only can bid on narrow parts of the RFP? It’s not like there can be multiple vendors selected and they bid on the RFP the first time around.

Release RFP-August 2018
Evaluation and Selection of Finalists-October-November 2018
Vendor finalist presentation to stakeholder and community groups-November 2018
Finalize recommendations-December 2018
Proposal for adoption by the Board of Education-January 2019

uh no.. according to the RFP, MCPS will downselect bidders and they'll be asked to present their sample materials sometime in OCtober. According to the Q&A, included in this evaluation are "Potential outside stakeholders that may evaluate proposals alongside MCPS staff include MCPS union leaders and collegiate partners with context expertise. Additionally, a wider stakeholder group includes the above mentioned
as well as students, parents, and parent group representatives will participate in the vendor presentations. All reviewers will be required to follow the MCPS ethics and conflict of interest policies."

well, the timeline quoted is from MCPS's website. So sounds like the RFP contradicts the website.

obviously the website provides a summary overview; not the detailed evaluation activities stated in the RFP. I wouldn't call it contradicting.

Which jurisdictions are using them?

Any news, rumors or gossip on the applicants? Have they made public the list of the first schools to pilot the curriculum?

I’ve started to receive ads for Discovery Education on Facebook touting their “record” in Maryland. I’m worried that it’s some sort of public relations effort so that parents don’t riot if they’re picked despite the obvious conflict of interest issues.

They're still evaluating the bidders.
