NP.. How can you disagree with what someone else is seeing as “hot” colleges in their school or social circle?

Yuck. The campus is just terrible and it is the middle of nowhere. And all the other consortium think you are trash

As does USC (S. Carolina).

Huge merit aid

Well, MIT is the best engineering school in the country. So you have a point. But it is ranked 4th in the country in engineering. If you are serious about engineering, it is an excellent consolation prize.

GT has the best aerospace engineering program in the U.S. It's almost impossible to get into, especially OOS

Interesting. I know that it’s way better than Maryland’s.

Maryland is in the top 10. It isn’t that much better.

Southern schools seem to be REALLY popular...Vanderbilt, Elon, CofC, Bama, USC, Clemson, and UGA especially.

Wut?

My DC is at Denison with $26K/year in merit aid.

Yeah, Denison gives merit aid. Their net price calculator says a student with parents making 500k a year and a 3.75 gpa and 31 act gets 24k a year

Wow! Had no idea. Insisted on instate.

We just did the Ohio tours.

Wooster is a College that Changes Lives school that really, really impressed me, and they do an ton of aid. Denison does. Kenyon and Oberlin do, but you would need higher stats (but not ridiculous). Next up for us? Grinnell and Macalester, which are also generous with merit aid for smart kids. Lots of CTCL schools out there that are excellent and have great merit aid, if you look for them.

I loved pretty much all of the Ohio schools.

Us too. Case and Denison were our favs.

Ranked #1 for food, and all the consortium knows it. Easy to cross register with other colleges. Tons going on there and at other campuses. Interesting majors and departments. Excellent profs. Phenomenal clubs. Fun & interesting theater and music comes to performing art center. Yep, ugly campus. Study in the Mount Holyoke library.

+1 food is only because the other campuses are so darn small. Amherst actually has very limited hours in their already very limited cafeteria. How that place costs $70K a year astounds me. That said, I would never pick a school based on food. They have more options and the rest of the consortium knows this. Big deal.

Elon and CofC are pretty big. Not sure why

USC and Clemson only because of the aid given. Clemson is in the boonies and both are pretty conservative.

Vandy is a top school. I wouldn't call that a hot college

....try to keep up. We're not talking about the liberal arts college, the topic is on the public university of UMass-Amherst.
