This is why you rarely see a single woman adopt a male child. |
Pp here. How so? I'm pointing out that Devonte's behavior probably stems from his early childhood abuse, and possible attachment issues. Research Reactive Attachment Disorder. I think that instead of recognizing that hugging strangers while crying is inappropriate, the moms used his behaviors to turn him into a prop in their hippy lifestyle. |
+1 My heart went out not only to the little boy, but also to the singer. He clearly felt how troubled the boy was as he was holding him - brought him to tears too. And what on earth was the boy wearing? It's just all so strange. |
I had a different take on that video. I imagine the mothers encouraged him to go up onstage and hug the singer - they seemed to be all about the optics. The singer looked quite touched at first - and then I think he realized the depths of the need this child had, as he clung to him and sobbed. You can see the singer get teary himself and become a little hoarse as he's obviously moved by this child clinging to him for dear life. And then the singer rubs the boy's head and holds onto him even more. I think he was a little perplexed, but also wanted to somehow give strength to the boy, if that makes sense. I'd love to get the singer's take on this now, to see what was going through his mind. |
+1 People have referred to the parents as the "mothers," but that's entirely accurate. |
Two more family videos... (from 2012)

This is the song they are singing in the first video right above and the singer they are wishing Happy Thanksgiving to and dancing with in the second video.

These give me goosebumps- not in a good way. Those poor kids were treated like circus pets by their Moms who only wanted to advance their agenda. Tragic. |
Except in this case the mothers were very clearly using their children to advance their political agenda... |
Weren’t the Turpin kids pulled out of public school and then moved across state lines where they eventually became homeschooled, too? Ugh. I wish there was some way to track these families. |
In the first video at 44 seconds you hear a women's voice say - are you going to give Nahko a hug now? The child answers yes and runs over. It seems so random - why ask him to go and hug the adult dancing with them. |
A lot of similarities between the two families. |
Exactly what I was thinking. The kids should have been at birthday parties with neighborhood kids, scouts, sports, school, etc. instead of attending these hippie events. And the video of the boy dancing in his underwear was disgusting. The mothers should be ashamed. |
I don't dispute at all that this family was deeply troubled but I think there is an overreaction about the videos (except for that heartbreaking hugging video). I have countless videos of my kids dancing around the house in their underwear and dancing at outdoor concerts but I'm not posting them on public You Tube channels. |
You guys might already know this, because it was reported hours ago, but cnn says that the moms were not seat-belted in either (that the earlier reports were incorrect). No one had their seat belt on.
Well, they were stopped at that point; maybe to get out, so took them all off... |
