This article is heartbreaking.

It’s a comprehensive article about how the children were isolated from people who would have seen what was going on AND how even when people reported them the parents were able to evade scrutiny by moving out of state, not registering as homeschoolers, etc.

The child protection agencies are not perfect. And when they fail, disaster results. What can we as a society do
To help them protect children???

I didn't have time to read the whole article. But as a social services worker in another state, I can guarantee that even if new policies and guidelines were put in place to keep better track of home school and isolated kids, there wouldn't have been time to adequately train the employees. They're just too busy. Taking one day to train them means an entire day of work lost. If states could afford to hire more people so that caseloads we're manageable (by manageable, I mean small enough to allow for things like time for extra training as needed), things would have been different for the kids who were murdered by their parents.

One more article. These people had multiple
Reports of abuse or neglect over several years over multiple
States. And yet the kids were not saved. They were starved, isolated, mistreated, and then murdered.

Remain lost at sea. I’m just so so sad for those kids and angry about what happened to them. I know they weee strangers to me who lived a continent away but I just can’t believe no one helped them.

I feel the same so avoidable. As soon as an adopted child states th e y don't want to go back to the home, someone should have immediately came to remove them, even if they had to spend the night in a hospital or shelter. And they should have been all immediately removed at the time of the child abuse conviction. We have such low standards for governm ent workers. I never trust the system.

The social justice warriors are no where to be found. No talk of adoption reform, just silence. No outrage for these innocent children. No anger at the system. Just a passing news story. Not even a public shaming with intensive media coverage in all varieties showcasing the abusive mothers (to deter other adoptive parents who are just as bad as they are). The children were just a ver y brief blip in the media. No dateline or 20/20 special.

There really wasn’t like a Friday night Dateline covering this story? Wow. That’s pretty odd.

Nope, no in-depth coverage (nothing more than a two minute line), not even a segment on Megan Kelly.

At least the lawmakers are already at work with the Lulu and Leo law following the conviction of the nanny who murdered the two children in the coldest possible, violent fashion that she was responsible for. the proposed law was announced on the same day the verdict was read.

Apparently not. I don't think the media will ever change and become an ethical source for news.

There has been a ton of coverage in the Pacific Northwest, particularly in The Oregonian, and well as a lot of calls for a national registry of child abuse cases.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I meant national television coverage. It makes sense that there would be more regional coverage. Because this crime was so horrendous and there were so many holes in the system spanning other regions of this country, I would have thought it would have sparked much more national television coverage.

You can also see it in the video of the adolescent dancing in his underwear. The child's kneecaps are prevalent and the calves are very thin.

Has any of that coverage detailed why Jennifer Hart was a raging, controlling, hateful, abusive witch? I mean why? Why adopt all these kids to abuse them?

Just my thoughts: Obviously the moms were mentally ill. I think they used these children to draw attention/advance to themselves and their personal social beliefs. They didn't seem to have careers of any kind and probably used money for taking the kids in to help support themselves. The more kids, the more money. The kids seem to do a lot of the cleaning, yard work, etc.
