| Forgot to mention jello. It's very important. |
| Life is a lot easier if you get married before having children, dont drink or do drigs, dont get divorced and men are expected to support their families. It seems outdated and it's not a lifestyle I'd want, but I can see how it leads to greater happiness in life. |
Polygamists are NOT Mormon. Those wanting to continue polygamy broke off from the church more than 100 years ago... |
+1 Few of the current generation might admit that their grandfather had multiple wives, but that practice is no longer around. |
My DH has several Mormon coworkers who are trying to convert us. Every time they bring it up I say "heck yes I'll convert! You guys still do polygamy right? Now when do I get my extra husbands? Can I request early to mid 20s? And preferably they work out?" |
Wow are you wrong. Polygamy is alive and well in the U.S., especially in Utah, AZ, and Texas. Also Canada and Mexico. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Current_state_of_polygamy_in_the_Latter_Day_Saint_movement |
You're clueless. Mitt Romney was a vulture capitalist, he was/is PURE scum & evil. Not only that, the return on investment he made during his tenure was the EXACT same return he would have made had he just invested in an S&P 500 index fund. |
He never struck me as all that terribly bright. |
I have never done drigs. Are they worse than drugs? Also antidepressant use is extremely high among Mormon women. |
Yes...Utah has the highest rate of antidepressant sage in the country. There is a reason for this. |
|
I am jewish, and have lived all over the country. I have found, for what ever reason, mormon neighbors are the most accepting of my religion.

Correlation =\= causation. There evidence that Utahns, in general, are more likely than others to seek treatment for many other medical problems. They also aren't self medicating with alcohol, coffee, and tobacco like many depressed/anxious people do. What far more interesting to me is that Utah has the highest porn consumption. |
The polygamists still consider themselves Mormons. It’s the LDS church that says they aren’t Mormon anymore. “Under the Banner of Heaven” is a great intro to the history of a church with a long history of polygamy. Joseph Smith and Brigham Young were both polygamists and are still important figures in the church. |
That's hard to do when they have multiple wives and dozens of kids. In that situation, the wives work to support themselves. |
I know many, many mormons in Utah that drink. They refer to themselves as "jack mormons" but I forget why. |
