| Thread is starting to be a little too much soap opera for me. |
| Long time Brent parent here and I think it's a good program. Put me down as pro Young. The staff is strong and they all get along - cohesive gaggle of smart asses. Most kids I know have a good experience at Brent, and academcaly the sky's the limit. Parent drama is not part of school life for kids and thank god. The kids are alright and it works for me. Peace out. See ya at the PTA meeting. |
+100. Thankfully, parents who come here with an axe to grind (seldom the type who work hard to improve the school) can't mess up the experience for the kids. The truth is that the ECE team is terrific partly because they have a model that works for them. If you get shut out, you make the best of things and jump in at K with a great deal to be thankful for. |
Whine a lot and start whispering campaigns but don't do much to help the school? We know who you are. Good for the teachers. They should absolutely get preferential treatment in admissions. Private schools give it to teachers for very good reason. |
Let's please not throw the teachers under the bus. If you have evidence that any of them lied about their residency then please contact OSSE. I have reason to believe that this is something that was done external to the lottery by the Principal for reasons known only to him. I also understand that that the issue was brought to the attention of DCPS last year by a parent who was trashing the Brent admin on DCUM and MOTH. Any frustration that your child didn't get one of these spots is understandable but not really the fault of those teachers, at least in my opinion. It's water under the bridge at this point and time to move on and address other issues. |
|
Absolutely, time to pack away the sour grapes, move on, and address other issues. Complaints about the PreK3 lottery are beating a dead horse. Nothing new on this thread, yet there's two or three like it every spring.
Reporting hard-working teachers to OSSE, horrible idea. It isn't easy to be in the employ of DCPS, even in a predominantly high SES school. |
I agree! It is hard to fathom why a parent would want to rat out one of their own child's teachers. Weird attitude. |
Yup. |
I'm guessing they don't care all that much what you think. |
There are three seats on the LSAT up for election. Plenty of opportunity for parents of rising 1st Graders shut out of PK to step up. |
The Spanish teacher is doing a terrific job? |
Looking forward to having the whiners on this thread sign up! |
Bueller? Anyone? Crickets? |
Hard to have a seat at the table when you're shut out. Maybe in a couple of years! |
Please move to the suburbs. |
