It is a low class habit. As well as weed smoking (and every other drug addiction). But tobacco smokers are labeled as trash, weed smokers "recreationalists" , heroine and pain killers' addicts are "oh, it's an addiction, they are poor things, we have to tolerate and help". Why is this happening? Because "recreational narcotics" are promoted these days - weed industry is peeking up the speed with great $$$$ perspective, and tobacco is demonized more than ever, which is a part of every product replacement campaign. Looks like weed is becoming new tobacco, I read a lot about the benefits of it as pain killer etc., and there is almost no mentioning of weed been 40 times more toxic than tobacco and of kills brain cells. But people are stupid buying in all three trends. Idiots. |

+1, well stated.

If it's something - ANYTHING - that they don't like and CAN'T control, then the answer is yes. Because at the end of they day, that's what all this is about. Not smoking, but being able to control others, and being outraged when you can't. |

I've never been against smoking much but as a 40 something I see:
vaping = the new smoking. Vape shops everywhere. A whole new generation of dumbasses. |
I want to control my home environment. That's why I moved out of apartments - I recognize sharing walls and vents means sharing smells and noises, and much as I like the community aspect of an apartment/condo building, I wanted to control the noises and smells inside my home more. You are welcome to do whatever you want in your own home, but if your noises or smells affect my home environment, I will be upset. I don't care if my neighbors have a rave until 6 am, just don't wake me up. I don't care if you all smoke, but I don't want to smell it on my property. |
| As someone who just moved back from overseas, I honestly don't get what all the complaining is about. Not many people smoke here and all the indoor public places have no-smoking laws. Of all the annoyances and nuisances in DC, smoking is just about on the bottom of my list. |
