I don't want to wear the hospital gown.

Seems we may have a few disgruntled docs here complaining about women doing what they want. Who else would care so much?

So you are willing to crap and bleed all over your own house, but you are worried about your modesty in the process? Are you planning on filling a baby pool of your own bodily functions in your living room,
Because it allows you the option to wear yoga
Pants in the process. Good thinking!

My Muslim neighbor had a home birth so she could remain modest and be sure that only women and her husband would see her in labor. It was a religious and cultural concern for her. No need to be nasty because people make different choices than you do.

There's a reason ob's "gear up" for delivery. They put rubber boots on for Christs sake!

It's 2016. Not everyone delivers with an OB. Take it to the other thread.

I've had four kids and with each I didn't give a shit if I was modest or not by the time I reached the hospital, even though I'm generally pretty modest. I think that's common. For what it's worth.

PS- and by "not caring" I mean, I could have been (and for some portions was) buck naked in front of 20 strangers and didn't even notice and certainly wouldn't have cared if I did notice.

Just go naked! I delivered naked then put on a maternity dress.

That's you. Some people remain as modest as they can.

Everyone told me I would end up naked, and it never happened.

Hmm, my husband and CNM didn't, and somehow managed to avoid being mucked up. Please.

I liked the hospital gowns. They were cotton and really, really soft from being washed so frequently in super-hot water. I also liked that I could change into a fresh clean gown whenever I needed to. Once I got home, I had to do all the laundry, so it was nice to not have to worry about washing everything.
