I'm having trouble keeping everyone fed.

Did we figure out if this is a troll?

My preschoolers eat like birds, as do I. DH eats like a normal man. One pound of chicken or ground beef is enough for dinner for us, usually with no leftovers. When the boys get older, we'll make more in a meal.

Pretty sure my ribs-showing 6 yr old boy could polish off a pound of ground beef in one sitting, with a side of heaps of pasta and piles of brocolli. His 8 yr old stick skinny brother could do the same. I weep for our wallets as these kids turn into teenagers.

dinner tonight was great. Everyone loved it. No leftovers but they haven't mentioned being hungry

Are you the same OP of this thread?

Same logic applies- buy and cook more food. It's not rocket science. Good luck.

Is this the OP? Did you double the amount of food? You really should be aiming for leftovers.

My eldest sons play soccer and ice hockey 3x a week. Anytime I try to give them a soup for dinner they freak out and basically refuse to eat it. Last week I made 10 chicken legs for dinner. Every last one was eaten in about 25 mins. When I feed them till they are full, it's like preparing a meal for an army. They managed to eat 10 potatoes worth of mashed potatoes the other day. I cooked a rack of ribs and they were still hungry after.

A rack of ribs each? or one rack total? One rack is definitely not enough. 10 chicken legs? I would think teenage boys would eat 4-5 each, my 8 year old will eat 2-3. Seems to me you are not making nearly enough food, especially for an active family.

I agree - my DS age 10 could easily eat 2-3 chicken legs and he is NOT a big eater (btw, I think chicken legs are smaller than when we were kids!). Also, I encourage greek yogurt, ice cream and cereal for that 8-9pm time slot when my kids are clamouring for more food.

Yes, I doubled the food. We will try for leftovers tonight.

You need a lot more carbs for boys OP. You should have tubs of vegetables and lettuce cut up and always ready to serve. Same with tubs of pasta noodles with some toppings.

Popcorn is a good filler. Get one of those air poppers and use that as your snack, not doritos and not colas.

Teach the boys how to make their own pizza dough and have toppings for that.

You need more quick and easy foods. Make tons of meatloafs, chillis and those sorts of things that don't take as much work and can feed a lot of people.

Op here.

Tonight was fried chicken. With pasta and a homemade Alfredo sauce. Two loaves of garlic bread. Salad on the side. Still no leftovers. Two boxes of penne and I used 2 chickens to make the fried chicken.

Starting to think that I could cook the whole kitchen worth of food and they would eat it all lol.

At least you're not ordering pizza and wings after dinner

They are probably thinking feast as it has been famine. They are scared the food will stop.

glad tonight's dinner worked out, op. i agree you made a lot of food, but honestly i am not surprised there were no leftovers, esp since that was a yummy menu My family of 2 adults, 2 young kids easily polishes off a box of pasta, so no surprise that your family of 5, 3 of whom are teens, finished off two boxes.

are you american, op? i wondered if you are not and that is contributing to why you are surprised at the amount of food being eaten in your house. americans are gluttonous but as one I am used to it ...

Thanks pps. No the food won't stop. I'll just cook more until we get leftovers. Tonight's dinner is kale, pork, and sweet potato stir fry. I'll make rice and salad as well.

Have you not been paying attention? It's been said OVER and OVER that one pound of meat is NOT enough
