Private & Independent Schools
| opening this thread again- anyone have suggestions for Rs/conservatives for private schools in the Metro DC are? |
Generally look at smaller Christian schools. The Heights is good if you are okay with Catholic schools (Rick Santorum's a parent, iirc). Most of the schools that come up here lean liberal but anything with "Christian" or "Baptist" in the name tends to be more conservative, in my experience. |
To be clear, I don't think any school is as homogeneous as this site makes them all out to be and the child of Republican parents could be happy at a number of schools. Younger kids won't care and I've noticed that there a lot of middle and high school children of politically liberal parents who swing in the opposite direction. |
| I know conservative parents at all of the schools. My guess is that when you ask which schools are good for Republicans, you really want a school that doesn’t emphasize social justice or diversity because these are code words for liberals and socialism. Just my guess. |
My kid is at Gonzaga, and social justice is pretty much a hallmark of Jesuit education, and there are tons of Republicans there. |
Depends what you mean by "Social Justice". Liberals seem to define it as anything that falls into the current Liberal orthodoxy. That's not what the Jesuits are teaching. The Gonzaga crowd (Alumni, parents, etc.) lean pretty heavily towards Conservative. |
They are socially liberal but fiscally conservative. Which means they care more about their money than other people's civil rights. |
|
What are you trying to accomplish here? Find parent friends?
I doubt there is a single Trump supporter at our Annapolis private and if there are any Republicans I am not aware. We are conservatives. It does not matter in any meaningful way. |
| Would you like for your kids to go to school with Kellyanne's?? |
| Schools that emphasize sports usually lean towards conservative |
Except that rich democrats are all for the above when it comes to THEIR kids, and most Republicans across the board support school choice - including the charter movement that revolutionised public school information for many kids/families here in our very own DC . |
| Sorry...public school "education" |
|
Only on DCUM can "social justice" mean different things to different people, when really, it all goes back to literally the messages from Jesus Christ, regardless of whether you are at Gonzaga or Sidwell.
|
Oh please. If they are socially liberal (which they are), they are very concerned about people's civil rights. The conservative side comes mainly from the pro-life stance. |
Boys schools are also a good bet. |
