Thank you for all your thoughts!

Ran the exact numbers and Vanderbilt would be $54K more over 4 years vs. UVA.

Would you pay this?
Kid prefers Vanderbilt but likes UVA too.

So roughly $10,000 per year for Vanderbilt over UVA?

Would take it in a heartbeat.

I stand corrected. About $13,500 per year for Vandy over UVA. Would still take it in a heartbeat over UVA.

Vanderbilt is the better school. And it offers both a better college experience and better career outcomes.

These things are called an opinion and an unsubstantiated fact, kids.

So sick of you UVA boosters. Vanderbilt is ranked higher on Forbes’ ranking (Vandy at 11 and UVA at 34), which heavily weighs ROI.

Take ROI ratings with a grain of salt. They are heavily influenced by the mix of majors of graduates and the cost of living of where graduates settle. Vandy is a bit above UVA in College Scorecard earnings, but Georgia Tech is well above either one. Why? Because such a high percentage of graduates are in engineering fields and engineering graduates earn nearly 2X as much as a typical graduate through the early part of their career.

This is a girl who is very mainstream in look and interests but is unsure about Greek life and does not want to be on a campus of only "preppy, wealthy people." (I realize both schools have an element of this but these are the choices she has).
Major is Neuroscience, pre-med.
Is Vanderbilt worth $15-25K more per year?
Thoughts?

Um, those are literally two of the top preppy, wealthy schools in the country??

Op, I’m confused. Cost of attendance at Vandy is about $18,000 higher than UVA oos, and that’s before adding in the DC Tag benefit. Are you getting some aid from Vandy?
