Well we can pay but $50K is not insignificant for us. I mean, we drive 5-7 yr old cars, we take budget vacations, etc. We're committed to paying for college but at the same time it's not the rounding error that it is for many on here. |
UVA is a great school and we were thrilled to send our kids there despite being able to afford private schools. $200k over 4 years is not (or shouldn’t be) insignificant to people even with high incomes. |
it's 50K over 4 years. If it was a 200K savings over 4 years we'd use UVA without thinking twice. Agree that UVA is a very good school. |
I stand corrected. About $13,500 per year for Vandy over UVA. Would still take it in a heartbeat over UVA. Vanderbilt is the better school. And it offers both a better college experience and better career outcomes. |
These things are called an opinion and an unsubstantiated fact, kids. |
If you will need to make significant lifestyle changes to afford Vanderbilt, go with UVA. |
So sick of you UVA boosters. Vanderbilt is ranked higher on Forbes’ ranking (Vandy at 11 and UVA at 34), which heavily weighs ROI. |
This. |
These are peer schools, literally no reason to stretch for Vandy. |
So funny that people think these magazine rankings that vary widely year to year are anything other than clickbait, |
| Don’t factor to factor in travel costs op. |
Vanderbilt and Virginia are not peer schools by any measure. However, an extra 10s of thousands over four years is definitely an issue for lots of people. So can see the appeal of UVA there. It's a solid state flagship for non-stem majors. |
Np. Sorry to break it to ya but they are peer schools. No skin in the game. |
+1 |
| Would you say Cornell is a peer school? |
