I studied economics in high school and college. Basic stuff. Both classes told me that tariffs don't work. Basic econ 101 and high school econ.

Yet that moron....

Glad the scotus had its head screwed on straight this time.

It's not like it will unwind to the tarrifs' inflationary effect on the prices consumers have paid. And with the extra 10% coming (presumably to try to make up for the lost tarriff revenue), those inflated prices only will continue to rise.

All so that they could pass a tax cut package accruing hugely more to the rather wealthy.

Protectionism (much like communism) was a red herring.

That movie was how as a kid I learned what a 'red herring' was

The Court punted on refunds. Kavanaugh was on the wrong side of the decision, but he was right that determining rebates is a non-trivial problem.

That refunding people is a problem shouldn’t determine that unconstitutional action by a wannabe monarch is OK.

It’s a problem he helped create by voting against a preliminary injunction for the obviously illegal tariffs

So no emergency tariffs. Ok.

I won't hold my breath waiting for a refund check.

Excuse me, excuse me.
I can do anything I want,
I can destroy the country.
I'm allowed to impose a foreign destroying embargo.

Key Largo, remembah that song?
“Just sailin’ away in Key Largo.”

That was quite a song.

Tariffs don't work, yet every country has them.

targeted tariffs can work. But, Trump tariffs which are applied when a leader of the country doesn't show enough deference to Trump, these don't work.

Have you seen the news stories of small businesses going under because of Trump tariffs?

+1

Or even paid attention to how the US has bled jobs with tariffs? Or how our trade deficit actually got way worse in the two most recent months (and while it decreased with China, it looks like we are just still purchasing Chinese goods that just get routed through other Asian countries, so not actually changed...)
