Oh gosh. this is CRAZY. It’s still snowing. My kids gonna get on the bus in 18 minutes! The roads look unsafe where I am, and there is ice all over our driveway. FCPS closes during the most stupid times but never when it’s actually unsafe for us folks.

We're in western Fairfax and the roads are clear and it is snowing lightly. It's perfectly safe out there.

“The county” doesn’t salt roads. Roads are VDOT’s job and they make very clear that they don’t brine neighborhood roads. If you have a big hill, you should have moved your car onto a nearby street. VDOT was everywhere on the main roads yesterday brining (pre-treating) the primary and secondary roads.

What are you talking about? Most businesses and the Fed are open on time today. They will commute during “the typical morning commute window.” A school delayed opening means that students and staff will not be in the bulk of that commute window thus making it easier and safer to travel.

At 8:06 AM Friday 12/5 FCPS website still states:

"Because of the uncertainty of the forecast, FCPS will monitor the weather and reevaluate in the morning if we need to adjust to a closure. If there is a change, we will notify our staff and community as soon as possible."

So when is the reevaluation happening?

If they tell us they will reevaluate, they also should announce their official decision to keep it open. The silence is so annoying.

Can these people say if they will close or not, and do it fast. Just take away the contradicting message of they will reevaluate in the morning. Make things easier. I’m sure they have looked out their windows already. WHAT are they waiting for, LCPS has already made their call

It’s probably already happened. It says “if there’s a change, we will notify…” there hasn’t been a change so they haven’t notified.
