I think that both belief in God and organized religion's only benefit is that they keep some people "in the straight and narrow" because they think such belief the only way they'll get into heaven and they really believe in heaven and want to spend eternity there. Atheists realize that there is no heaven or hell, so don't worry about it and are grateful for the one life we have. And we're good because it's a good way to be.
