The GA is changing the birth year cut off and aligning with other organizations. They announced it at the AGM this summer.

Unsubstantiated rumor.

Just another random guess.

Pretty sure it was talked about at the AGM that they would be changing but it was a sort of "off the cuff" remark in a broader conversation. Nothing is official, obviously, but I wouldn't just call it a "random guess" that they're going to change. It seems like a logical conclusion given everything we know so far. But of course, until we hear it straight from the Trish's mouth, its all just fun speculation.

It is one logical conclusion among many.

Some people have a vested interest in SY we get it. But with College, NWSL and potential MLS changes on the horizon literally ANYTHING can happen.

The one thing Ive found to hold true reguarding Youth Soccer is if you dont like the direction its going just wait a couple of weeks and everything will change.

…an usually toned down response from our friend, Ugh.

The person you're arguing with seems 100x more rational than you. You’re either a new u13 or maybe pre u13 parent or on ECNLs payroll. You hate MLSN and GA but are obsessing about what they do with their league. Why do you care? Very odd.

“The person”, nice try Mr. Ugh, but you have to get up pretty early in the morning.

Wow, you are more unhinged than I thought.

Not the pp, Q4 GA parent here, I care, and I would think many other Aug-Dec GA/MLSN parents care too .

If GA stays BY, I am taking her to a RL team.

They are not staying BY. Don’t let the ECNL people trick you.

Yes, Mr Ugh has strong evidence they are staying BY, mainly that an August 1st cutoff would create unwanted associations with school year, which would be catastrophic for MLSN.

Now I feel like the guy who swore Trish told him 8/1. I have an email from my club director I’ll post the verbiage again.
But Ga will not be birth year. The sooner you expect it the better.

Don’t worry about a thing, because everything little thing is going to be alright….

You are so dumb.

MLSN is run by MLS they use it as a way to identify homegrown players. They dont care about anything else. In this world SY doesnt matter. In fact groupings in general dont matter. All MLS is looking for is players they can field professionally. The concept of which grade players are school doesn't matter and is a distraction. Also it doesn't apply in any way to professional soccer.

Just look at the catastrophic effect of the 9/1 cutoff in England. The association with school year groupings has ruined their academy system. No players going pro.

I agree, it’s Mr. Ugh who doesn’t. Don’t worry he’ll chime in shortly and take us all to school, so to speak.

You clearly do have the time, but are just unable to convince anyone why you think you are right. Don’t give up though, tell us more about international play and how August 1st for MLSN would prohibit that possibility altogether, keeping MLS from becoming a top tier league on the world stage.

Email to my GA club director buddy.

We announced at the AGM so feel free to share with your families. I do not know when the league plans on publicly documenting it, I was told the Board of Directors wanted to pause on further public statements regarding it.

If groupings don't matter, then what difference does it make for them to just go SY so it aligns will the clubs feeder teams?
