School year is set by each state/local area. Seasonal year is what USYS uses to define the youth soccer season and age eligibility for each age group. They can be similar but are different. |
US Soccer is calling it Season Year to not imply anything. Leagues call it School Year. Its the difference of saying I drive a car vs I drive a Jeep. |
Regardless of what leagues call it, school year implies that it is based on grade or that grade matters. It doesn’t. It’s 8/1-7/31. Calling it seasonal year or 8/1 is more accurate. |
Agreed. They will based it off of this calendar and not your grade year. This is why they aren’t going with graduation year. Graduation year and school year are the same thing, so you still with seasonal year to base it on a calendar. |
