Most Americans (76%) oppose spending $45 million to hold a large parade of soldiers, weapons, and combat vehicles on the streets of Washington, D.C., in celebration of the Army’s 250th birthday and President Trump’s birthday, including 48% who strongly oppose, compared with only 21% who are in favor.

Solid majorities of Democrats (93%) and independents (80%) oppose the military parade, as well as a slim majority of Republicans (52%). Even among Americans who hold favorable views of Trump, a slim majority opposes this event (52%).

Well. You can’t be telling people they need to tighten their belts and be patient for the economic pain and that there needs to be cuts to government services because we can’t afford them and do something like this.

What is Trump going to do for the Navy and Marines who also have anniversaries later this year. Trump is such a megalomaniac.

We’re going to have a big, beautiful parade.
And we’re going to do it very strongly.
It’s going to show strength. And a lot of it.

It’s going to show a lot of strength.

The media should not televise it. He hates them so why bother? Hope not many people show up

Congressional GOPers have other plans and won't attend the emperor's self aggrandizing parade

I would rather that money have been spent on a smaller event to honor the army and have the rest go to support the VA and veterans.

But what do I know, I'm a "lib."

Anyone who goes should take flowers and lay them at the feet of any troops or guardsmen that are there

That’s good to know!

Not just for cheap rooms either, there's tons of availability across the price spectrum and rooms are pretty steeply discounted compared to average in mid June. Not a good sign for Trump.

Other than the minimal amounts it will take to repair the roads, this money would never be saved or spent elsewhere. It would always be spent by the DOD.

And that $45 million is entirely a guess.

People around us are leaving town. We would too except my kid has to take the ACT Saturday…in DC (mfkrs better not be blocking route).

Lots of people signed up for the No King’s Protest. I think those will get the larger crowds.

It's completely disgusting. Hope the vets realize that he has gutted funding for cancer research that specifically benefits them.

Right! Did you hear Hegseth before Congress this week. He was basically vomiting propaganda and finally even the GOP said he needed a budget. He has no idea what he’s spending. He is an utter buffoon @sskisser.
