You are totally incorrect. At the high end of achievement there are more men than women. |
And? You think more women should be admitted "because women are smarter" or something? ![]() Roughly equal acceptance rates is what you would expect from roughly equally qualified applicant groups... Einstein. |
This is outside this discussion but yes. Better applicants should have better representation in the applicant pool. This makes no sense as an argument. |

That just isn’t true, nor is it corroborated anywhere. You’re like those annoying men who blabber about startup founders whenever people bring up that women are more educated than men. Why run from facts? I guess they’re inconvenient. |
The actual facts that emerge from the people who have seen the entire applicant pool - i.e., not you - should make you question your premise that the women applicants were "more qualified". If men and women were admitted at equal rates (as they were) then this indicates they were equally qualified. But I understand it's more comforting for you to cling to the idea that there is some form of affirmative action for males happening. I definitely suggest you contact Dean J and ask her why she is admitting so many unqualified males. Is she one of those handmaidens of the patriarchy or something? PS I'm sorry your DD got rejected. |
I don't run from facts but you haven't produced any. All you've done is pooh-pooh facts that don't fit your preconceptions. |
Why are people arguing about sex and intelligence? Is it the 1600s? Women and men are equally intelligent. |
This was repealed in 2016 and was only a temporary policy, dimwit. |
If your kid got in ED to UVA, I’m super proud of you!
There’s no way for us to compare people- but you know who can? The people reading the files- and they chose you! Congrats! |
Bingo!!!! |
Yep! Huge achievement for those accepted. Congrats! |
Just look at the number of male CEOs. |
Oxford parent is one of my favorite characters on this show. |
It’s really luck once you get to final numbers. Those who got in - it is great. Congratulations. But that doesn't mean your kid is “better” or “worked harder” than some of the kids who didn’t get in. A lot of great kids applied- sure, some were long shots but overall I’m sure a lot of amazing applications were read. Those who got in need to recognize the element of luck at some point too. The process has some randomness in it- it is ok to recognize that. It doesn’t mean I’m not happy for any kids who got in. It’s great. I think it seems too easy for people to forget the chance/odds element.
