Emory is a decent school, but with the games they play with lying about their SAT's, having the community college part of it to hide the lower stat students in Oxford, it isn't on the same level as Vanderbilt.

It is in a tier with BU, Villanova, NEU, Lehigh, Bucknell, Tufts.

It is not in the Vanderbilt tier of Duke, Vandy, UChicago, Johns Hopkins, etc.

Why does it matter what 2019 test scores were which are now 5 years old vs. current test scores. If anything, shouldn't Vandy have much higher scores with only 51% submitting?

Vandy is in the tier of Notre Dame and Rice, while Emory is with WashU and Georgetown. Emory is closer to Vandy, then Vandy is to any of the schools you mention.

You have a weird grudge for something that happened 12 years ago.

Emory is not in the same tier as Georgetown. Just stop. It is more like a Tulane than Georgetown.

No, it literally is in the same tier as Georgetown. What's funny is someone in a different thread (one on Williams and Georgetown) posted World rankings of Universities and Emory was like 190 and Georgetown wasn't even in the top 500.

Speaking of World rankings

The kids at the Oxford campus have the same exact stats as those that start at Atlanta. You can blame Emory mom for making them sound less then in her efforts to downplay the overall acceptance rate.

Georgetown is test mandatory. Most don't even submit to Emory. Emory is relatively easy to get in early decision with an acceptance rate of over 35%. Plus they admit kids off the books into Oxford. Georgetown's REA is only 12%. Emory is shit compared to Georgetown.

Off the book?!?! This is ridiculous.
The have Oxfords enrolled stats on their website.

Most do submit to Emory (61% last year) and you can rant and rave all you want...but whatever Georgetown is doing isn't working with the rankings.

Only 42% submitted an SAT score. 19% submitted an ACT score. However, there are always 10-15% who submit both. A majority of students at Emory are TO.

That's not how that works, they only report the highest submitted, there is no double counting on the CDS.

Even if true (when at the high end it's 10% but more like 5%), the math still doesn't get you to a majority at TO.

Here's my back of the envelope rocket surgery calculation: about half of Emory students are admitted test optional.

You're a moron

Dp, but you are wrong. You can go back and look at pre Covid cds and the total of sat plus act takers will exceed 100 percent.

Yet Emory is ranked either the same or higher, Emory RD is 8% ,vs Georgetown 13%. Emory college ED is 20% for both rounds.

Dp, but Georgetown is 12 percent overall and they don't use common app, which means they get fewer applicants.

https://provost.emory.edu/planning-administration/data/factbook/admissions.html

Emorys admissions dashboard gives a detailed breakdown of test scores. For fall 2023 601 students submitted SAT scores, while 554 submitted ACT scores. The Emory College class is 1420 students
(601+554)/1420= 81.3%
The only way to get to 62% on the CDS is to subtract the students who submit more than 1 test. Either do proper research or STFU.

Does every Emory parent memorize every single permutation of the U.S. News ranking or just the ones who post here.?

Emory parents are literally the least secure parents on DCUM. It is crazy. Not sure if they were all gunning for Ivy or something. But it's like they are smiling through the tears to tell you the average SATs.

Oh please if anything that's probably Wake. You people lie constantly, then call people insecure for correcting your lies. It's peak manipulation and gaslighting, and you're not smart enough to get away with it. To spout "back of napkin math" as real points when real data is available is childish. Who cares if YOU don't see Emory and Vandy/Georgetown as peers. The schools themselves do. Stop worrying about schools you nor your children can get into.
