Matt Gaetz tapped for AG

“The Gaetz pick for DOJ is so shocking, it deflects attention from other nominations of unqualified nominees—eg Tulsi Gabbard at DNI, Pete Hegseth at DOD—and makes it more likely one or both get confirmed. On the theory that a GOP Senate won’t have the stomach for too many fights with Trump.”

Trump promised vengeance. But I don’t know. These people are so objectively unqualified it’s not clear how he’ll accomplish even his grifting. I thought there would be more Stephen Miller types.

Oh, hell, that makes him the perfect choice for Trump!

What a joke. Loser can't even get competent people to work for him anymore.

I voted for Harris and I believe she would have made better choices. But Trump won and he is free to select who he wants as clownish as they look.

However I really hope the Democrats hoping to run in the future are not thinking and acting live the Democratic voters here. I mean some of you guys are just sitting around glued to your computers itching for "gotcha" "I told you so". We should let them govern with the mandate that they have earned and use their failures to hopefully convince voters to pick out side the next time around. But it looks like we have not learned our lessons and don't plan to do so. And guess what the results next time will be the same.

+1

He keeps picking Republican congresspeople. Hasn't anybody told him why that's an issue?

That's the problem. If you tell Trump not to do something, he does it. Mike Johnson asked him to stop choosing representatives.

Gaetz seat is safe in bloody red panhandle Florida

I asked this earlier. Can’t find anything on google either. Seems like maybe never? Not even a trial attorney?

This is all that Wikipedia had to say. “After graduating from the William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, Virginia, he briefly worked in private practice before running for state representative.” He’s been in politics since then.

It’s not clear he ever was a prosecutor or trial attorney. He’s been a politician longer than he’s been anything else.

If he ever did get a real job in private practice, no one is stepping up to admit they hired him.

Um, as if Attorney General Garland did not do whatever Biden asked?

I'd be ashamed if I voted for Trump and the R's. This is a national embarrassment. I am speechless.

Time to start working on 2026 midterm campaigns and 2028 elections. But it's depressing how much grifting and incompetence and damage Trump will infect and infllict on our government before then.

Great post.

I wish the campaign and election divisions would heal or at least be sutured and bandaged, and both parties would come together to take care of Americans. Really sick of the constant fighting.

This is an anonymous website. You are probably responding to trolls from other countries. Even if real people, these are just voters. Not the Democratic Party.

I don't think anyone is saying the AG can't do what the President asks ... I think this thread is just stunned by the persona that was picked. There are LOTS of unqualified and far better personas with a JD (and no trial or real law experience) to pick and have him/her do your bidding.

Correct. That how our justice system works. Impartial. Wherever the facts take them.
