Navy must have piloted some of the basal lessons last year because they are featured in the training video with the principal talking about it.

How do those work? Why wait for a job fair as opposed to just applying online? Is there an advantage?

Get to meet and speak to different principals at once. Licensed teachers with a half decent interview will be offered jobs on the spot. They hired 150 teachers at the last one

I misspoke 150 people were offered not necessarily hired. A lot of new grads will go to fairs for interview practice before picking a school. It’s starting to get down to the wire to hire. We have two weeks until great beginnings and three until teachers are supposed to be prepping in classrooms.

Go Navy- beat Army?

Why is this awesome? New principals always try the new stuff to make an impression in the higher ups.

Wow.

“Why is early literacy important… a majority of kids are not in grades K or 1”

🙄

But everyone starts out in k or 1. Don't tell me that the number one priority for FCPS should be esol of all things. Get a life!

There is a significant enough portion for it to matter. Some schools in Fairfax there are more ESOL students than non ESOL students. My second grade class last year only had 5 non esol students out of 22.

Unless you are in certain pyramids, ESOL is exploding everywhere else in FCPS. It actually makes up a very large percentage of students.

Falls church, Annandale, and Justice pyramids are filled with ESOL students. Trust me the need for ESOL teachers is there.
