American pro sports are definitely a melting pot. 28% of MLB baseball players come from outside America. The NHL has twice as many Canadians as Americans, plus large numbers of Swedish, Russian, and Finnish players. Even the NFL had 88 foreign-born players who took a snap in 2023. |
Absolutely nothing to prove wrong from what you've said. You're just rambling your opinion You were asked several questions to prove your point. You can't answer one. You're just repeating your dunce opinion. What are "top potential" kids? When and how are they identified? Who identifies all the kids in America for potential? What age? What are the methods of measurement? Where is the data stored? |
But, but, but our top potential kids go to these sports |
| Go to work people. You don't even sound smart. Get a life. |
again your are a moron if you think american soccer is attract our best. Its not opinion its fact. |
yep lots of money even for average players. Vice pro soccer in US. |
|
I truly believe that fame and fortune attracts the best. How many football, baseball or basketball professional jerseys are sold compared to soccer jerseys?
Of course there are always exceptions where the most athletic kids prefer soccer over other sports. Hence, they might be willing to put in the necessary technical training on a daily basis at an early age. The best players are the fast players with incredible technical skills (ie Mbappe). But if players were born with speed, they should work on their technical skills. And for slow players, they need to work on their technical skills, soccer IQ (positioning, situational awareness, etc.) has the speed of play. Speed of play and speed of good decision-making are the best counters against fast/physical players. |
I don't know, why don't you provide the jersey sales numbers? Parents decide which sports they put their kids. So how do the so-called most talented kids choose which sport they want to play? If your parents put you in basketball or baseball from you're 5 years old and you become a good basketball or baseball player, how does that mean you're a better natural talent than a soccer player? |
You must be the type of parent that forces your DC to play a certain sport. Other parents typically let their DC choose the sport. I put my DC in different sports and let them decide which they like and want to continue. |
How does that make your DC more naturally talented than a soccer player if they decide to be a Running Back? |
You just confirmed the PP by saying they decide from the sports You the Parent put them in |
Nope. The general population—two random 11 year olds, presumably from the DMV—is the subject of the original post, which a PP rightfully identified as idiotic, and you and I are both idiots for contributing to it, though not as moronic as the posters who know zip about the sport trotting out “We suck because our best athletes don’t play soccer.” Neither man would succeed in the NFL or NBA, but both men are superior athletes with above average speed to go with their superhuman brains and balance. |
It's actually not that idiotic, when you see how many people responded truly believing speed is more important at 11 years old oh. wait |
|
There's a balance at that age. Speed usually bests overall technicality usually. I can have the greatest ball control in the world, but if I have no endurance or speed than it makes me actually less of a threat.
You can train most kids to be speedy (unless they have a biomechanical issue), just as you can make them technical. So do both, not just one. |
How does speed best technical ability? Please explain in detail What do you mean by have no endurance, in soccer terms? Most elements of quickness and reaction and explosiveness can be improved with consistent good SAQ training. You can't make a slow or average kid 'speedy' If a kid isn't the fastest, doesn't mean they are slow |
