Alito displayed a “stop the steal” symbol at his home

MAGA doesn't care because it's a cult. Ethics? Professionalism? Holding our elected officials to a higher standard? Hell no - these people support TRUMP, for crissakes. There is no bar low enough.

Let me get this straight, Mrs. Alito was upset by a F Trump sign that was put up after Trump led an insurrection and tried to destroy our democracy. She didn’t like the word being used on a sign near a bus stop. How did she feel about Trump saying that he likes to grab women by the pussy?

Actually there is no excuse or valid explanation for Alito. SCOTUS just needs to ignore vulgar language and rise above partisanship.

Personally, he may want to reflect on why this sort of vitriol was directed at him and his spouse and whether he can strive to be the person his neighbor expects him to be.

The neighbors using expletive signs around kids? He just needs to keep his distance; they seem unhinged.

But he didn’t say that in one of his telling of the story, which suggests it was made up as explanation.

Turns out he and his wife are the partisan hotheads they’re accusing their neighbors of being. Not super neighborly behavior from the scummy Alitos, but what else can one expect from a liar like him.

And if it IS true, the proper response would have been a “kindness matters” or “love everyone” kind of sign. It makes zero sense to respond to F Trump with a mayday message.

Yes, to leap to an upside down flag for an alleged neighborhood conflict is a weird leap.

There’s just so much wrong with this explanation. It doesn’t make any sense.

I’m surprised all of the rabid “SCHOOLS WERE SHUT DOWN FOR YEEEEEEEARS” posters here on DCUM didn’t pick up on this, as Don Beyer’s comms director did. There were not kids waiting for a school bus in the vicinity of this supposed profane sign in January 2021.

He’s working hard to invent a story to make this go away. There’s obviously no way this is excusable behavior for a SCOTUS household.

+1

The bottom line is that he and his wife are radical partisans, and there is no covering up how bad it is for them, and the story shifts each time their BS is called out.

His wife probably hung it that way accidentally. Why is this even a story in 2024??

Really?

Alito is 74. He married his wife in 1985 when she was a law librarian. Will estimate that she is 62 at a minimum. I'm 62. I'm pretty progressive. I also learned about how to hang a flag when I was a Girl Scout at 10 as well as how not to. Even if Mrs. Alito wasn't a Scout, I can't imagine that she made it through the '60s and '70s w/o hearing about flag etiquette. Seriously.

DH was a political appointee at one point early in his career. You better believe that if I ran a flag up the pole and realized it was upside down, I would have brought that flag down stat lest there be any repercussions for a perceived unpatriotic act at the home of a political appointee.

And who runs the flag up the pole without then looking at it once its at the top - no one.

The fact that this flag was up for days tells you everything that we need to know about how Alito views the ethics of his job.

And Justice A-hole served in the military for years.

It’s not just his house.

Sorry. Doesn't work.

Facts be damned! I’m right because I said so!

I know this is hard for you, but people in high positions have different work rules, ethics, protocol, and professional standards than trolls on the internet.

Keep on deflecting.

I'm not the PP, but it's also not a deflection. Clearly you are not aware of the oath of office taken by federal electeds and appointees. I held the appropriate book for DH when he was sworn into his government post and took an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic...." Alito took the same oath! Flying a flag upside down is neither support nor defence of the United States. It's not. If his wife doesn't understand the provocation of her act, then that says a lot, a lot about their marriage and her sense of her husband's role.

And don't came back with his not encroaching on his wife and her beliefs. The beliefs go out the window when a spouse takes one of these posts. That's how it goes.

Wait Supreme Court justices don't have opinions?

They're just legislators with robes.

You’re identifiable now and tiresome. I feel sorry for you that you think this is fun.

Can you imagine the reaction from the right if Justice Jackson had done anything like this? MAGAs would have no standards if they didn’t have double standards.

But not wrong. So is her husband.
