that's ok, i wasn't really sold on the drive and am very skeptical the new building will be ready, but wanted to give little one a shot at a second language. got into my second choice, will be able to walk the little one to school this year and we can see how things go.

On the bright side, we got 173. Same boat. Would have liked it but happy with our IB. it is the only thing that worked for us. Our lottery number must have been trash!

I still haven’t gotten the email, is that strange?

(Obviously logged in last night to see but curious when the official email is supposed to come!)

Nope not strange. We don't have our email either, but I've already submitted a post-lottery application to add ourselves to a waitlist for another school and received the confirmation for that change!

I think it is in their best interest to send the emails later in the day because sometimes waitlist numbers change slightly on the release day due to people gaining sibling status as a result of the lottery, and while this is a normal thing that is within the rules of the lottery and happens every year, it also tends to stir people up. So sending the emails after this has occurred, so that the emails reflect everyone's true waitlist number, will reduce the number of irate people who can point to their email and say my waitlist number was X and then look at my school and say now it's gone up to Y.

Rising 5th grader, oldest sibling, matched at top choice, Latin 2nd Street. I'm walking around in disbelief. And also obviously not going to chat it up among the 4th grade moms, so posting here

Please don’t check until May!
Unless you have a connection the list will not update until right before that date or even 2 days after.
After May the list will update regularly all the way until October.

This is the correct advice and yet I will check many times between now and May, as though by some magic I can will the lists to move early. I know I'm not alone, too. Some of us are crazy.

lol, I’m telling you all the paperwork is
Processed by central at the same time they don’t do the first update until May 1st or even right after people who had properly enrolled didn’t see their account info update for over a week in some cases and were going crazy, good luck on movement and getting a the choice you desire.

I know you're right, this is not my first rodeo. I just also know I will wind up logging in to look periodically anyway. I'll also probably submit post-lottery applications, in some cases just to see what waitlists at those schools look like. At this point I just accept that this is how I cope with the limited control one has over the lottery results, and try to laugh about it even though I know it's all futile.

Congrats, that must feel great! Glad you are happy and know where your kid will be.

Thank you for not discussing it with other parents. It's a hard day for many.

For PK-4:

SWW@FS: WL#8
Marie Reed ES:WL #18
The Riverseed School: WL #1
Matched at Stevens ELC

Already at Amidon would we have a chance at SWW or MR realistically?

How can we find out how many lottery seats were allocated for 2024-25?

Prior years suggests little movement off the list before August or even October, but that this result is fairly likely to get an admissions offer. SWWFS is slightly easier from a commute perspective, though not necessarily enough to make a difference, especially with the van service from our neighborhood to Sela.
A few questions for the hive mind:

--if the WL offers go as late as October...what do people tend to do in August and September?

You need to enroll at your match now. If you get a waitlist offer at a school you prefer later, you will just enroll at that school and let Sela know you are withdrawing enrollment.

Technically you have until the deadline to enroll at a matched school, but there is no reason to wait. Enroll so it's done, and so that the school knows you (at least for now) want the spot. That keeps everything moving. And then if you get an offer elsewhere and decide you want it, you need to let them know immediately and submit paperwork quickly, because once waitlists start moving, schools need to know if you are taking a spot or not so that they can move onto the next person on the list if you don't.

You do everyone a favor, and build good will at schools, by being prompt with responses to enrollment offers. There is no good reason to delay unless you are taking concrete action to make a decision. My recommendation if you are really unsure about taking an offer is to ask for a tour at the school. They will usually try to accommodate this for an offered family and just walking around the school and getting another feel is usually what you need to push you one way or another. If you're truly on the fence between schools, tour both. You will usually get a gut feeling about which feels more right.

As for those two schools, I have no advice, being unfamiliar with either.

Thank you! This is super helpful...

you can look at prior years on Tableau. Probably similar to this year.

I love Sela, our child loves Sela, and it has been fantastic in generally every way. The only reason we are (considering) leaving is to secure a middle school feeder pattern. I would regret leaving though

Sela is a great school. We left after PK3 only because we hit a lottery at a school we didn’t think we would.

Our youngest just matched at Sela. And we will enroll. If she happens to get off the waitlist where her sibling attends, we will. If not, we are excited to have her at Sela (and knowing the faculty, warmth, etc that school provides for our young children).

We are wait listed as #34 at Latin PCS Middle School. Any views on whether we will get in off the waitlist? This is for the fifth grade entry year. I assume there is no chance?

Thoughts about the following for 1st+?

-Marie Reed - Dual (English Dominant: Offered
-Stokes Spanish: #2
-Oyster: #9
-Bancroft: #8

You got an offer for Marie Reed dual language? Take it. That school is awesome (have friends there who switched from another dual language program and have been thrilled, also the school has a great swimming program which is a wonderful bonus).

I’ve heard good things, but didn’t know about the swimming. That’s great. Stokes has been #1 on our list for the past four years, although I’m not sure if we could get in at 1st grade even being second on the waitlist.

My kid switched to Marie Reed DL from another DL school and we cannot say enough good things about it. So nurturing and meets kids on all levels and it’s a fantastic, cohesive parent/teacher/admin community. Academically, they brought my child up 2 grade levels after a lackadaisical pandemic/charter experience. Socially and emotionally they saw my child and knew how to give her what she needed. Plus they do a great job with the arts, field trips, etc. Congratulations!
