Sorry, not your research assistant. I'm right about the transfers and the poor neighborhoods zoned to Westfield. Look it all up yourself. |
agree, and it is very off. |
So I guess the matter was deemed too serious for the Westfield principal to communicate about and the superintendent took over. |
Sure, there are students with economic disadvantages at Westfield, but almost every FCPS high school has students with economic disadvantage. Westfield also has all of Virginia Run, several neighborhoods in the Floris area, Emerald Chase, Sully Station, and a handful of other middle class and upper middle class neighborhoods in its boundaries. Additionally, there is nothing wrong with being poor, and being poor doesn't make you a criminal, a degenerate, or any less worthy, so it really shouldn't matter how wealthy or poor a child or family is. |
Disagree. This is county-wide news, appropriate for the superintendent to respond to. |
Thats a cute way of saying you know nothing about the transfers. There are poor neighborhoods zoned to almost every FCPS school-look it up. |

+1. I have a child at Westfield and don't see anything wrong with it. |
This. At least one poster on this thread has an agenda, and it isn't the concerned parents. |
FCPS shouldn’t be blamed for the actions of this kid. |
No one is blaming fcps. Some Westfield families felt the school should have communicated more information yesterday. The transfers in/out has been posted on here and yes, Westfield had a lot going out and that's just a fact. If the belligerent poster wants to dig it up, he should do that. |
Do people think Westfield is bad, or just too big? And if the latter maybe they ought to slow down before they expand Centreville to 3000. |
Westfield parent again.
The email from the principal Wednesday night was a form letter about a student death. No context. No details. It was more alarming to later hear a student was murdered and another shot at. I don’t blame the principal for not saying more, it was an active investigation at the time. What I don’t appreciate is principal not addressing kids being questioned by police officers - were their parents even notified? Or the TV cameras outside the school for the past two days. Or whether the incident took place on the victims way home from school. Perhaps some of this needs to come home from FCPD, but more communication is needed with Westfield parents. I’m sorry for the victims and their families, truly. However, I want to know my child is safe at school and to/from schools. They still have not addressed if the victims were in school Wednesday and walking home from bus. |
Dr. Reid says older FCPS students receive gun safety lessons. My 11th grader says she has never learned anything about guns from FCPS. Have your kids had these lessons? |
I don’t want FCPS giving gun lessons to my kids. |
